Temporary Hijack:
If the Aft Turret is #6, then why does it go away when I destroy #2?
Hijack over.

You don't actually need to target the weapons to destroy them. This might be where some of the confusion comes in. Its possible to be targetting weapon 2 and hit weapon 5 (for example) and destroy it with the shields being full. Having said that I don't know the numbers of the layout of the guns; I did a fly by (being neutral) and looked for the guns near where I wanted to hide and quickly took them out without targetting in a few shots.

Read this thread....a guy describes his technique. He is a master pilot but it can be applied to a non-master you just need more patience....

I suspect master boxes for other professionswill be opened up via quests in the future. I have heard a lot of rumblings about that. As for the vette, just ask around your server, you may be able to find a crew looking to kill the vette for their masters or just to have fun with it.

Another useful tip - lol, if you need any more after reading the good advice in posts above - is that you can tell if you are above or below the vette by checking out the number of nodules (bumps on the ship) on the section just aft of the bridge. On the top there are 4 turrets, but on the bottom there are 8 nodes - so, 4 nodes=top and 8 nodes=bottom - you should be able to see this detail from far away enough not to get shot by the upper guns if youhappen to beon the wrong side.
Btw, on the Imp Gunships it is Gun 6 that points aft, but there are also two turrets in the middle of the 'wings' on the top which can also fire behind, so takeout gun6 and attack them from behind/below. I usually ignore them though.
