Yeah the skill of the pilot may be all well and good in PvP but in PvE it aint worth a damn. There is NO way anyone can solo the tier 3 missions. Finding a wingman to go with you for an hour and a half is nair impossible (thats how long they take for Imp). Where you see master Neutral and Reb pilots. Why? Because the damn ships they have can pack a whallop! Not to mention take a damned beating. Is it me or does anyone else NOT see that?

You whined and got shields and hyperdrives, now you want to be better then the Alliance, who's primary focus was the air??
In what way does this have any bearing on the game? The empire is supposed to have overbearing presence on the ground but its not there. Its all about balance with the GAME. However your perception of the movies/book or EU are the game does need to be scrutinised for balance. in that repect all constructive comments are welcome.

If you've ever played Tie Fighter or XvsT you'll realise how good a tie can be against an x-wing if you can handle the speed.
At the end of the day if you don't like it don't fly it... or hope for a gunboat
Personally I'm really disappointed they've allowed shields on ties, once again ruining any link to the namesake films... but understand that there would be no end to the usual childish ranting on the forums until it would be changed.

Nope, the original post is right. X-wing=3 Projectile, 1 missile Y-wing=2 Projectile, 2 missile

Imps shouldn't be complaining. All TIE's before the TIE advanced (bomber, fighter, intercepter) aren't even supposed to have shields. But as someone mentioned, if the Devs made it "authentic" then all the Imps would be crying even more. TIE's were made for speed and also to overwhelm targets by sheer numbers.
And rightfully so. In the movies, they could get away with depriving TIEs of shields because they're all piloted by clones, and outnumber rebels by a HUGE margin.
In this game, that's not the case. They HAD to give the TIEs shields, because if they didn't, no one would be an Imperial pilot because they'd do nothing but die. It had nothing to do with whining, it had to do with good game design. Shields are WAY too important in this game to deprive one faction of them for no better reason than "ooo ooo continuity!!!!".

Bomber class, take 10 off the engine rating (so a 60 engine gives 500 space speed in a tie bomber)
fighter class, take 5 off the engine rating (so a 60 rated engine gives 550 space speed in an xwing)
Interceptor class, no penalty (rating 60 engine goes 600 in a tie interceptor or a-wing)
The numbers may be off a bit, but seemed more 'ten off the top' than any percentage, from the limited testing I've done.
