Yeah. I know you didn't start this thread saying that. I was merely commenting on that because I have seen a lot of the newer players feeling proud of soloing it. I see it more as a fight against the lag then an actual ship.

100% agree on that, however, i do find as I get closer and my POV causes guns to go offscreen, the lag gets a little better.

The only thing needed here is for the gun turrets on the ISD to be more accurate, and mabe limit the ammount that will fire at the same time. No use for the bow guns to be fireing, when I'm aft of it, shooting at the engines.

Happened to us a couple weeks ago as well Attacca. Death to that corvette that wanders too close and the NPCs engage it. That's by far the worst.

Yeah, and you ARE aware you're emptying DS by doing this, right?

Because in the Devs' infinite wisdom, it seems popping the ISD causes the Imp ships to leave, and since the spawns are synched, the Reb spawns disappear too.

That's the exact reason, as an Imperial, I protect that thing no matter what I'm flying. Someone takes on the ISD, I'm going to fly straight at them. While they might be having fun getting that prestigious "I soloed the ISD" comment, they effectively kill the entire zone. While it might not be an issue for rebels that can farm faction elsewhere, Imperials almost need the rebel spawns out there to get a decent amount of FP.

So the next time you're on Bloodfin and killing the ISD, watch out for that Imperial getting ready to blast you to pieces.

I'd have it in under 3 minutes, if it weren't for the fr*ck*n lag. The lag is its true weapon.

Yeah. If they gave it only 20 guns, and made them Corvette guns, I think that would make it a bit more interesting to solo. Pretty much no lag from 20 guns firing (as is proof by the Rebel Space Station), and if they were as accurate and damaging as a vette gun, it would take quite a bit of tactics to drop it.

Its deffinately due to some code butchering, the ISD used to be very accurate back at JTL launch, it would hardly ever miss my x-wing. Since the invincible freedom station and bugged ISD guns (0/1/6/7 guns being inside the actual structure and unhittable) the accuracy is almost non-existant.

And i blow up the ISD about once an hour or so, when the system builds up to much and you need to de-lag it.

Making anything in PVE a challenge to an experienced pilot is hard. Our shields are basically infinite over time, so if a target doesn't knock them out completely on a single pass (and thus get some shots at your armor and, eventually, subsystems), it won't ever kill you unless you mess something up.

On the other hand, if the target's got enough firepower to wipe you out on a single pass, there really isn't much you can do about it.. no ships can really tank or anything, so. It might work if you put together a coordinated squad that attacked in unison and split the target's fire--which would be pretty damn awesome, thinking about it--but that'd require having the AI divide its target priorities on lines that are complex or random enough to avoid just massacring whatever flies into range first or shot it last. Include a system like that with even more decreased AI accuracy at extreme range but maybe better accuracy at short range, and that could give a squad enough time to hit the enemy capital ship in the same wave without being obliterated one by one.

There are ways to make it work, really. They're just tricky, and would be a huge departure from what we're used to. Which would be, I suppose, the entire point.

More expiraments - a full stop over gunboats and T5 fighters took them forever to kill me as well. Maybe the AI doesn't deal well with stationary targets?

What Tomo said about needing multiple ships to divide up fire is how I always thought Freedom Station would work, in my pre-Ace days. My guild even talked about getting enough pilots up and running to take out the station together, with that strategy in mind. I was a little disappointed when I found out how easy it really is.

I finally had a chance to try getting in close to the ISD and stopped to see how long I lasted. Took about 20 seconds before it landed enough shots to take me down. Since I have no armor, I didn't last long after my shields went down.

It missed alot in that 20 seconds and took several different weapons to get the needed hits. I was about 300m from the bridge

See, I'm thinking something is borked with AI aiming, or it always has been and I never noticed.

Also, ive heard that the system cant hit a target going more than 1200. it can land random lucky shots, but not aimed ones. usually when i get hit, it's because i turned into the shot, at least thats how i saw it.

Well I figured somehting out last night.

The bigger your ship, the more acurate the ISD is. Evan with more powerfull lasers, better shields and armorit is tough with a KSE. I was winning, but went LD and when i logged back in, i was on the ground.

One thing I did notice is that it hit me alot more, and I was sueing cap to shild shunt at often as my droid would let me. I still had almost no armor left.

So, when useing my bel-22, it seemed too easy cause of the ship's small hitbox.
