Thread: Which Droid Chips are BEST?

RO4
WO3
WCO4
EO4
CtSS4
Shieldfront adjust extreme (PvP)

I'm aware level 4 overloads cause so much damage that repairing at a station will cause decay. I'm also aware a trip to deep space will fix this damage without decay.

So if you are only using a 2,000 energy use engine, you still have 4,700 left, plenty for your other components.

I don't know what you're using, but 4700 energy is enough for maybe both my weapons and the capacitor... never mind such "options" as shields, missiles, countermeasures...

Sorry, but Engine Overload 4 is just not combat-viable even with the best reactors.

This is going to seem repetitive, I'm sure, but:

Cap to Shield Shunt 4 (A Must Have)
Reactor Overload 3 (the only reason some of my ships work)
Capacitor Overload 3
Weapon Overload 3
Engine Overload 3

I have never actually tried using the Rebel shield adjustment chips; just can't see myself using those in a fight. These programs are a good argument for getting a fast interface-takes a while just to get all the overloads running....

Actually, in my case, it isn't thinking that keeps me on level 3 overloads-it's laziness. I'm not really motivated right now to reprogram the flight computer, and far less motivated to buy the chips for the level 4's I don't have....

While it is a simple thing to hop to deep space and let it take care of the magical repairs, there are any number of times when folks may just want to land and not even think of it...until it's too late. Sticking with 3's ensures that a moment of forgetfulness doesn't add up to parts decay.

Honestly, I have yet to need anything better than my current overloads. (level 3) The only one that would come in handy is EO4 and, frankly, not being a shipwright and having no access to anything but my ONE Nym's engine, I'm not decaying it, risking it, or otherwise even putting it in minor danger through overloads. I'll live with very slightly less YPR and a bit less speed. Big deal. I spend most of my time in my Advanced X-Wing PVEing for faction, so I don't worry much about PVP. If I get the bug for PVP, I load up my Bel and do just fine with that.

Eventually, when I get my 2nd character and shipwright, I'll be more interested in pushing my equipment.

RO3 is more than enough output for my ship. WO3 is the only reasonable choice for weapons, due to the bug and CO3 gets me 61.2 recharge, which is plenty. If I need more than that, then its a reminder to lay off the fire button a tad and relearn how to volley clean hits, as opposed to spam fire.

If you like level 4 hey great. EO4 is probably a real help, but not worththe trouble for me at this time.

Really? Oh, I must be confused. That's funny, all my systems were still online. Including my DI, shields, level 7 and level 8blasters, booster, capacitor, bomb launcher, and chaff launcher.

Oh but but wait! You said its not combat viable! Silly me, I might as well throw the ship out now.

How about instead of just accepting what some other people said and never pushing the limits, you actually put some effort into energy management and try it for yourself. Your sig says you are a shipwright so I'm sure this is something you can do.

It'sthinking like that that is responsible for all the pilots, and people posting here, still stuck on all level 3 overloads.

(Sorry if this sounded offensive, but please don't take it that way. Just trying to point out that people do it all the time, so you might want to reconsider. Maybe my example above wasn't right, but it was just an example.)

It does sound offensive... probably because you didn't take the time to read what I was quoting. The poster to whom I replied said that there would be 4700 power left over for everything else after overloading the engine... and I pointed out (rightly so) that this is far from sufficient to run all the remaining components on a ship. So if anything is WRONG here, it would be the mathematics of the original poster.

For the record, I have tried Engine Overload 4 myself - with a considerably more powerful reactor (around 16800) that was not in the red when the ship was loaded and launched... my weapons all went offline. so I've stuck to Engine Overload 3 and Reactor Overload 4.

So, O Wise and Learned One... would you care to tell me how 4700 energy is supposed to power all those components you mentioned? As your teachers would say, "show your work". I want your numbers - and I know the sort of power requirements such things have. If your above example "wasn't right" then it was wrong - and I'll be damned if you'll correct me with an incorrect example.

Did you run RO4/WO3 before running EO4? If you did, was the enginecrafted or RE'd?

I see people speaking of decay. Is that decay any PERMANENT Damage to components?

You quoted me originally. You were definetly right about the 4700, I just came up with that number from nowhere. I edited the first post to something more reasonable after I saw what you and Washell posted.

Easy. As Washell Said above you need to run reactor overload FIRST. If you run EO4 (disabling your systems) then run RO4 your systems will NOT come back online. You need to do RO before hand.

And to answer your question, Fecklar, RO and CO do damage to the reepective components. Whenever you reapir any sort of damage at a station you get decay of 10% of the damage. So in effect, yes, it is permanent. However, if you go through deepspace and get free repairs, then you do not decay.

And to those that say they use level 3 from lower decay this is certainly a valid point, but I think the original poster was asking for the absolute BEST regardless of 'cost'.

RO 4

EO 4

CO 4

WO 3

CTSS 4

also have WO 4 on the droid.

I use these on my X-Wing and my reactor is only 13.5k Gen rate. It can fully power up all my components without any problems. Check this out.

The same as me probably. I've got no problem running EO4 on my B-wing with L10 engines, 4 guns, shields, booster, etc. The reactor that does it all: L1 SW crafted with 12k generation. So how can this not be combat viable?

Also running it on my grievous en advanced x with the same make and model reactor. Good re'd stuff lowers the drain by very large amounts.

Edit: Engine drain B-wing (L10): 1.6k
Engine drain Grievous and Advanced X-wing (both L8): 1.4k
So 16k and 14k with EO4. Reactor churns out a small 24k after RO4, leaving 8k and 10k to power the rest.

When WO3 is fixed and increases weapon drain instead of it's current decrease I will have to rebuild these ships.
