Thread: EXP should mean LEVEL like ground game.
Now, all this being said. Do you have any questions about how you might improve your skills or ship?
Where exactly are you having problems?

Bunny, you have a better response and I can handle that better then just "learn to fly." I hate morons like that. I still think flying should be like the ground game and we should be able to level based on experience. That is just my thoughts. Like I said you can keep the missions and everything but if we get enough EXP we should be able to level. Will this really hurt anyone? This will do nothing but help people to level and reach their goals.
Someone said something like "You get Ace pilot off Tier 1 ships then how do you know how to fly". Well people can AFK the entire combat profession (even though they are not supposed to) and I am sure they can fight well enough in the end. Or if they wanted they could grind there entire profession in Nunas. They would go for higher ships as they felt ready, like a combat pro on ground starts going for higher prey and not nunas all the time. I can kill Tier 5 ships with ease as a 3,2,3,2 Inqusistioner pilot it just gives alot of trouble when I start getting ganked by 10 ships that gives me trouble.
Ok, just park your ship and go back to Jedi if you like mindless grinding.

That makes sense Alarien, I was getting peeved off because I can't get this freaking mission done and its annoying me and having people say learn to fly was not helping my frustration. Thanks for the input and Bunny too.

If you're peeved about a mission then post asking for help and ideas on making it past the mission. Asking to have the game changed so you can advance is petty. The current system works, people get Ace every day, peoplebeat the mission you're stuck onevery day. People post here who can help you with any mission you're stuck on. Coming in and trying to knock down walls is gonna generate the sort of response you got.
can't say as I favor the grinding idea.... i am with the 'more missions, less or even NO grinding' side...
the story behind the missions make it interesting for me
anyway, what mission are you having trouble with? is it a destroy mission or escort or what?
as a basic idea ofstrategy, you need to be kiling enemy ships of the same level in 5-10 shots once you are on them... Awings and really manueverable ships, mebbe not, but not much longerto be able to solo the higher level missions... if you are not then a) your ships not set up correctly with good parts or your not using the right droid programs to GET it set up with good parts b) your not hitting with enough accuracy in your deflection shooting, or C) your not thinking through a strategy beforehand, depending on the mission objective.
oh, and as far as the ground game goes... make IT more like the space game... screw grinding!! MORE MISSIONS!! lol ![]()

Learn to fly ships wow you must be good! And I am assuming you did every mission solo up to master pilot.... If you did then congrats because I don't know anyone that has.
Hm, lets think...
I've soloed most of storm squadron so far (I'm 4443 currently, 2-3 missions and then the vette left)
I also have the badges for Black Epsilon (all solo, except for one milk-run of an escort mission because I was bored and wanted company), Inquisition (totally solo - except the vette, used Bstrike).
I soloed all the way through Vortex, Phoenix and Havok.
I've soloed RSF (twice - due to missing a badge from my respec period), and most of Smugglers Alliance solo - a couple of missions I got help on.
But yeah, I agree, the missions are waaay too hard... [/sarc]
Perhaps I was a bit hasty in telling you to park your ship, I didn't see your edit.
First thing to do is make sure your ship and droid programs are set up well. Since Imperial ships are the lowest mass it really makes droid programs a "must have". Use weapon overload 3, engine overload, cap over load, and the highest shield shunt youi can fit in your flight computer. You can get pre-programmed chips from other players in other professions for the ones that you don't have.
Engine, weapon, and shields are the most important parts. I prefer a quickfire crafted blaster for PvE work. Better target tracking and actually higher DPS. These are usually in the range of .25 to .27 refire rate
If you have multiple enemies to kill and can't destroy them fast enough, use the [ ] keys to target engine and just disable them and go to the next active ship. This may require manual targeting using the X key, which will target the ship that is currently under your gunsight.
Also check the FAQ stickied to the top of the forum. There is a lot of very useful information there on ships, tactics, and equipment.
personally I love the A-wing missions, nothing better than chasing a dozen or so of those things around. But then I chase Tier 5 droid fighters for fun and parts in Endor.

Some missions charging head long into the 10 ships and 2 gunboats will get you killed. Take your time, pick your targets, and make sure your equipment is up to scratch is the No1 prioritary.

The X key would be overworked by me, except I have it mapped to button 2 on my joystick ... I'll put up with trouble using torps for that, I don't use them much anyway. As for soloing, I'm currently soloing SA except for a bit of help with an escort mission (I had been up for 45 minutes already and it just wasn't ending, and I needed to go AFK for 5 minutes, so I grabbed a passerby).
Fun trick: if you can manage it, instead of disabling a ship on an escort mission, shoot the engine down to 1-5%, then get out of range. If they're that badly damaged, they may run away, and even if they don't, they won't catch you unless the freighter changes course ... and they won't self-destruct.
Aye, that one Smuggler Alliance escort mission is one LOOOOOOOOOONG son of a gun. Seems to make like 3 laps around the space sector.
