Thread: P38 starfighter like to see in game
i don't think it's a coincedence thay gave it the P-38 number, because it looks alot like the P-38 Lightning from the WW2 days

I'm pretty sure that the TIE Defender was developed just after the battle at Hoth, and right now we should be about 6 months to a year before Hoth (although I suspect they'll make that an expansion soon). Alot of people asked for the Defender anyways, and I'm guessing that's where the TIE Oppressor comes in. The Oppressor is the galaxies equivalent of the defender, it's fast enough, heavy enough, and has alot of guns. Even if they did push the timeline up, I wouldn't expect to see the defender because it's role is basically filled already, but then again you still have people like me who fly certian ships even when we know we could do better with more popular ships.

HOw about a tie defender
THis would be so powerful.

Continuity means nothing.
We have Episode Three fighters that blow the Alliance's latest Interceptor project out of the water.
We have masses of Jedi running around unchecked.
We have Wookiees in the Empire.
We have core worlds such as Naboo being fully controlled by the Alliance.
We have masses of people regularly visiting planets such as Dathomir (which is completly locked down by the Empire for fear of the Nightsisters escaping) and Endor.
Basically, the storyline isn't an issue anymore.

I believe I said in my original post, and I quote :
(let's not debate the lack of continuity either that already exists).
There's always someone around to say "Continuity....bleh". So then the devs say "OK, we give you all Jedi". And then someone says "Continuity....but look at all the jedi"..... And the devs say "Ok, we give you episode 3 fighters".... And then someone else says "Continuity...but look at all the episode 3 fighters"....
See where I'm going here? If we don't even care about continuity then you might as well throw Captain Kirk and Spock in Mos Eisley and give me a phaser darnit!!!! Now where's my Uglies!!!!!!
George lucas said before he got inspiration from war footage of ww2 and ww1
probally did
Uglies would be cool have new profession or sw be able to take wreakage (your loot) and craft it into a new ship it would be under modification . But this would be kinda weird to see in game it is realistic but mostly only pirates had uglies. SO unless you give this to only freelance everyone would want to be freelance the imperials did not have uglies in eu as far as i know and the rebs may of had a few. But you have to give some advantage to regular fighters for not changing like witha y wing with tie wings would be slower but more manuverable but slower but solar energy would increase cap .

Second nomination on the Tie Defender...its delicious.

Actually, the Oppressor is alot more like the Assault Missileboat than the Tie Defender in all but appearence.
Know what else I'd like to see though? The Mandelmotors Starviper. Better knows as Prince Xizor's Virago

That is one sweet fighter. I imagine it'll get added to Freelance at the same time imps finally get the defender.
Oh, and the YT-2000 from X-Wing Alliance too.

I love that thing. My favorite Corellian Freighter model.
I'll never understand why people want uglies so much. All the EU sources that talk about them peg them as TERRIBLE ships. For some reason people think some of them might be all cool and powerful, but every mention of them always states that uglies always end up with the worst features of the ships its made up from. For example, the Eye-Wing(Tie Fighter Cockpit with Y wing nacelles) has the manuverability(or lack thereof) of the Y-Wing coupled with the explodes-in-one-shot feature of the Tie Fighter. Uglies are sub-tier 1 fighter craft flown by people who literally can't afford ANY kind of ship and end up welding parts together from a junkyard. This might all be forgivable if they at least looked cool, but these things are called uglies for a reason.

Lol , oh I know that, I just think it'd be funny anyway
.
Also..the TIE Defender is nothing like the Oppressor. The Defender is more along the lines of an uber TIE advanced due to it's insane manouverability and speed etc.
As for the continuity...well I'm on Bria and luckily over here..on the ground at least the Empire rules all.
I do agree though...Wookies have no place in the Empire and my Imperial alt makes that blatantly obvious. My alt is a xenophoebic, narrow minded, model Imperial Officer.
As for the JSF etc..well my stance on it now is they count as their own faction. Call it narrow minded or whtever but I'll never accept the JSF, I'll never touch one because I don't need one in order to fly better than most people and also..the JSF should be just that..a JEDI ONLY ship. All resources I've seen describing them say that the JSF DOES have a disadvantage...which is yeh ok it is small and handles amazingly but...it has terrible energy drainage which means it can only fire a few shots before the capacitor runs dry and so needs awesome accuracy to fly one...and hence why you only really see Jedi with their heightened reflexes etc flyign them. Unfortunately SOE weren't nice enough to addthe limiter to this ship which it is supposed to have.
I mean..most Jedi I know only care about their uberness on the ground so don't fly much.
Jedi only ship + Jedi who don't fly much anyway = A lot less Jedi 'hey we have training wheels on this ship' in space.
As for the Belballub..well that should be a ship reserved for BioMechanical Generals with four lightsabers for arms.. ![]()
I have nothing against the new Heavy variants of the Starter ships because at least they fit in with the Time line.
That P-38 looks very nice; I always liked the WWII P-38, and the influence is definitely evident.

The nice part of JTL is that you can take a chassis and give it multiple roles, as I'm sure that your Oppressor serves you more like a missle boat. As far as game balance goes though, the Oppressor is the elite imperial ship just like the Defender was in TIE Fighter, and I can make my Oppressor fly like my Defender did in TIE Fighter.

I won't dispute that Uglies are for pirates and poor pilots. That doesn't mean that they don't have a place in galaxies though, and I bet my Uglie can kick your Uglies butt!!!!! I say give me the ugliest of uglies, part y-wing, part x-wing, part TIE Fighter, and while we're at it part chihuahua. I'll take a texture kit showing a TIE Fighter <edit> an X-Wing, now that's what uglies are all about.
You all know you want uglies too!!!!
