We tried it again yesterday and had some luck

Someone else had taken out gun 5 and primary shields. Then i came in from the bottom with a little strafing and was able to take out secondary shield withmy blasters. No hits while approaching but a couple of hits while i was boosting away (only small damage to the armor).
In my second run i took out the engine in one run. No hits at all this time.
While doing this someone else has taken care of gun 6 and so we were able to sit in range under the vette without getting hit.

A spacebomb on the reactor and some shots at the bridge ad we were done.

Did all this in my heavy x-wing.

Thanks for the tips again.

For taking components out, it doesnt matter what the vs shields or vs armor rating is, it just calculates raw damage - I went at it with Mk III(?) concussions (the next to top level, whichever those are) that had about 1.1 vs shields and 0.0 vs armor, they still did full damage - and they come in a much bigger pack than protons or spacebombs, while doing better damage against components than protons and faster lock than bombs.

I dare to correct, the guns have a max. range of 1k, no more. But as your own guns are limited to a bit over 500m, you definitely have to dodge fire for a while to get in range.

I usually go for Gun4, shunt, recharge cap. And dive back in for Gun5. Turn and take out gun 6or 7.
Then you have a blindside. But ifyoure going with missiles only, use 2 image rec2's. Leave the guns.

Starting with Gun4? Yay, you must be good... that gun is "covered" by the Guns 0 -3, so you're hammering your way through fire from 5 guns. I am impressed.

Try aggroing the vette then fly out at 1500 meters from it... The damn thing will still shoot at you (it'll miss if your jinking) but if you fly in a straight line it will hit.

One wonders how EnFERnO manages to survive a top side strafe on gun 4.
