I am 3222 in Havok squadron right now and I have to agree with you about the y-wing. That has got to be the worst ship in the game. It moves like a rhik, but if you are going to be a tank you should get the firepower of a tank, it only has 1 weapon slot or 2 for the LP. At low levels you will never use all the mass of this thing. So, it just sucks as a low level ship. The starter ship was better. I just got my x-wing and only did a quick test flight but I really like it. it has middle of the road maneuverability but the 3 weapon slots and 1 missile slot makes this thing a powerful PvE ship. I can't wait to get some of my L6 and 7 RE guns into it with full overloads.
BTW higher cert is not always better
The tie bomber and bwing are the slowest ships...The rihxyrk is awesome. will out ypr acc dec the ywing anyday and has three guns.
The b-wing is unflyable, at least for me.
You must realize my young pilots, its not the tier of the ship that makes it good, its the type of ship and what you're useing it for. I am a fighter pilot as well, that is what i perfer. You will see a lot of pilots standing still just turning in circles to fire at their marks, in this style of play the Y-Wing excells...well the long probe so you have 2 blasters. A fighter pilot will be flying their ship, staying on their marks tail and blasting away, this is a different style of play. With a properly outfitted A-Wing a 'fighter' pilot will take out a mark faster than the flying turrent style of play even if the ship has 2-3 times the firepower.
Anyway my point about teirs; I allso have a second account who is a privateer, the A-Wing which is tier 4, is pretty much the same thing as a Slikc which isteir 0 (novice), and I think the Slick has a little more mass. As you get higher lvl of equipment and outfit the 'ole Y with better stuff, if is really a good ship for what it was designed for.

Style does too, tank fliers swear by the Y-Wing, especially with high speed engines in it. I'm a dogfighter, myself, I ran up to 3322 before switching to the X-Wing in aunarmored Z-95, a LONG time before armorless fighters were en vogue.
yeah... at high levels I can see this ship being a good choice for a bomber type pilot. Rebels definitly got the shaft on good ships for tier 1 and 2.

yes... however, the TIE Bomber is tier 3, rihk is tier 4 and b-wing is master level. All those ships are at a point where you can load really good parts to compensate for the downfalls. The y-wing is tier 1 and LP is tier 2... with the best parts I could find I still only used 30k of the 180k mass (?) and the performace was horrible... I used a lvl 5 RE engine and was getting out-maneuvered by a tier 2 lamda shuttle.

I have to agree, especially with my heavy z-95 (95K mass). I aced pilot on my first toon using the Y-wing for tier's 1 and 2 and hated it. Now I am running my second toon through the pilot levels, and my heavy Z-95 should carry me through all the way to x-wing, and maybe beyond. I really dismissed this first ship out of hand because of the 11K mass of the starter ship, but second time around, I have a lot more respect for it.

Well, there IS one good thing to be said about the Y-Wing ... it's a learning experience. Then again, the Rihk is both a learning experience AND a substantial upgrade in firepower. The Tier 1 Y-Wing is something that's easily skipped, the Longprobe might be worth the trouble if you feel you need the firepower and don't mind the handling.
Is the xwing good? Hell yes it is. It is my favorite pve ship. I don't even use the heavy xwing, just the standard 102k mass brand. Just continue killing and looting, collect good equipment, wait for some great stats, and RE them.
Favorite pvp ship: JSF? No. Bellabutt? No. Awing? Yes.
