No, I think the underlining problem here is the reasoning why many, including myself, went Freelance instead of picking Imperial or Rebel;

The YT13000 which, and lets face it, was promised to EVERYONE of ALL factions before JTL beta.

If the YT was available to everyone, then many more people would be able to have the ship they wanted yet still take part in the GCW. This is where JTL falls down, plain and simple.

I agree that certain ships should be restricted to certain factions. Obvious ones being all of the TIE models, the A-Wing and the B-Wing. These ships are developed by and for the corresponding factions. Though you may find them for sale on the black market, they are affectively exclusively owned by the Empire/Alliance. Likewise, the Hutt ships that JTL has created were specificaly made for the Hutts and so the Alliance and Empire is not likely to be able to get their hands on them... but all other craft are vessels that would, in the world of Star Wars, be on sale at your local Starship dealers.

What I would like to see is that a few more ships are added into the game so existing ones that should be owned by everyone can be. As well as this, I believe that many of the Rebel / Freelance ships should be owned by both as well.

For instance, Rebel pilots should be able to own the 3 black sun freelance models and freelance pilots should be able to own the two Y-Wing models and X-Wing.

The YT2000 or YT2500 could be intraduced to replace the YT-1300 as the Freelance master multiplayer craft. Since they are both very similar to the YT-1300 it wouldn't take an awful lot of work to re-design the 1300 interior to match either of these ships.. a simple solution to give everyone the YT1300 without giving Freelance masters a unique multiplayer craft.

I think the biggest reason to go to DS for faction is the fact that you can get a lot more much faster. You can get a ton of faction points from teir 4 and 5 gunboats.Plus in DS there is an almost endless supply there. Added to the fact that if on the odd chance you die there is no decay. I personally find that I have to grind for an hour just to get 2K of FP when I could easily get this in DS in about 30 min.

On the point of the YT-1300, I own this ship and I like it but I would be happy with a Nova just the same. However the Krayt and Dunelizard is a completely different story. I absolutely love these two ships.

There's been some discussion about this over on the JTL Discussion forums. I know this is one of my biggest pet peeves about Deep Space, and I'm sure a lot of my fellow freelace pilots share my opinion. My primary reason for going overt is for pvp. The faction is just an added bonus.

So, how about a system for space similar to the new one to be implemented on the ground. Instead of just overt or covert, why not add a pvp-enabled option. If a person chooses to be overt, they'd be open to pvp and they could collect faction points. If they chose to be just pvp-enabled, they'd still be open to attack from opposing faction players who are overt or pvp-enabled, but they couldn't get fp for kills. Seems like a good idea to me.

Although, you'd think that if they can automatically repair your ship upon leaving Deep Space they could fix it so that overt freelancers didn't faction in Deep Space. /shrug

My opinion for neutral pilots gone faction, is just that. Just like the han example that keeps floating about. The choice of neutral pilot should just mean that you wish to fly neutral ships for whatever faction becouse of whatever reasone: RP, tactical reasones, look of the ships and so on.

that is pretty much what we have. Deep Space is perma-overt, Privateers can go there and declare, just not earn faction

I believe if were made overt as we enter deep space we should automaticly gain the faction points. Instead of the way it is now where you need to go overt first then go to a sector of space where your automaticly made overt.
