1. Forget about your armor. Take it out. If a something makes it through your shields. YOUR DEAD! Take the extra mass from the not having armor, and use it to put the fastest REed Droid Interface into your A-wing (with the least amount of mass)
Ok, here is a "secret", well not really but.... 2 weeks after JtL came out SOE relised that they had put the numbers backwards for the Droid interfaces. (Meaning the level 1 DIs had a speed of 15 and the level 4 DIs had a speed of the 30's. Well they fixed the problem. But there are still SOME legacy DI's out there!
My DI in my A-wing is level 1: 496 mass, 498 reactor drain, 14.9 speed
Thenmake a Cap shield to Shunt macroset to .2 secondsslower then your DI. use it when your shields hit halfway (or all the time like I do :-P).

I guess I didn't read your sig, lol. In my opinion, those are exceptional reactors. If you've got one, great, otherwise it should be easier to buy a Mk1 crafted reactor that puts out 11.5-12.5k energy.Oh, if only that were true.
Are you saying it is NOT easy to buy or make (Since you are an MSW after all) a Mk1 crafted reactor that puts out that much energy?

It's a trade-off. I can make a reactor that knocks out almost 13k in energy, but the mass will be around 1k. That takes resources for the reactor, and a resource specific to shipwright to make the overcharger. I charge for that.I've got many L1 and L2 reactors that put out over 13k in energy, and have lower mass than the lowest ones I can craft. A savvy pilot that looks over their loot can pick out some real gems at no charge.
None of the reactors I can craft can match the best loot reactors I've collected in a *very* short time as a Pilot. (Output of over 30k on some L8's)

You are right, it is a trade off. So, if you have a loot reactor that puts out around 10.5k energy and weighs less than 900 mass, that's a great a-wing reactor. If you don't, a shipwright can make you one that generates 10.5k and only weighs 800-900. Of course, you will probably need to run reactor overload 3 to use such a lightweight reactor. If you don't want to do that, a mark 1 reactor that puts out 11.5k energy will weigh 1200-1300 mass. Another trade-off, but that 400-500 mass is significant on an a-wing...

I decided to try and do all 9 squadrons, you think an A-Wing is tight you should see TIE fighters.

Do imperial pilot, and you have a whole new outlook on ships

You sure you listed the level of engine correctly?
Unless you found an L8 or greater engine with an RE level of 4, i dont think that speed is possible. L6's dont come near that speed save the prenerf reward engine, and thats RE level 6, not 4. And even then, L6 engines dont come anywhere near 4000 mass.
So for that mass you had to use a 4, but for that speed you had to have used an L8 or greater.

i mean if you leave out the shields and drop the booster, maybe look for a reactor that has very low mass too, cause really you only need the reactor to power you engine and guns. chaft is a good thing to have, if you have the space. i didn't get one till i got my bomber.
its all about speed and damage in the Tie.
I had already created or RE'd a lot of parts for my ships, so Tier 1 of Black Epsilon was a breeze. When I jumped up to Tier 2 is when the fun started. 40k mass on a TIE/In (after 20k on the TIE) and I felt like I had all the room in the world, but I must sayI enjoyed the challenge of fitting in the best parts. Now I'm looking for a wickedly manuverable engine to stick in the Interceptor. I'll punch out the 3 Imperial squadrons, then do the RSF Freelancer, then the three Alliance squadrons before the last two Freelancer squadrons, finally ending up with this alt as a smuggler in the Smuggler's Alliance.
Best part of Imperial Pilot (for me) is that until you get to Tier 3 you aren't too strapped for capacitor/reactor power since you've only got one gun mount.

Oh yeah... that mass is right. It was a looted Level 4 engine from about a month or so after JTL came out. It was a level 4 RE level 4. Pretty freakin' sweet eh? It is better than my prenerf reward engine in speed, but slightly lower in PYR. But that speed at that mass? WOW! I really wished the antidecay could be used on space components.

Nope, its all about RE'ing. I already posted what i have in my T/A in this thread, scroll up, i have EVERYTHING in my T/A except a missle launcher.
