Thread: Quick Poll: JSF/Grievous Do you even fly em anymore?

It's great to compare and contrast these ship chassis, and talk about which ones we like to fly, etc... but for pure practical purposes in doing missions and competing with freelance and rebel pilots I am not sure how we can't focus on one item, MASS!

As a Master Imp Ace I cringe when I think about the ship MASS available to us as compared, say, to the Freelance Ace. And MASS= Firepower + Defense in these ships. No matter how you slice it if you want to run the best, guns, armor, shields, you need mass to distribute it through. And sure, we have the Decimator, but that lumbering beast is good for show and that is about it. The Oppressor and Aggressor are nice, but the mass limitations are brutal (as compared to say a Krayt).

For an Imp Ace I guess I have found the Firespray to be my only salvation. 210K mass and nimble. Lets me run 2K+ shields, 2 lasers combining for around 8500 damage, and a nice big hog of an engine letting me hit 1,460 top speed (1,790 with the little booster I can squeeze in). With this firepower combined with speed and agility....how can I go back to an Imp ship? I hate the way my lasers come from two locations on the Firespray (harder to line up in my opinion) and I love the look of the Oppressor/Aggressor series.......so it's not that I love my Firespray. I just love the MASS.

Practical questions I have are: 1) as an Imp, are we not suppose to have the best equipment and technology? Heck, if Freelancer's have better equipment we would just go steal the technology and make it ours!; 2) out for a Sunday drive to see the stars then great, any of these ships will do......but in Deep Space to take out some corvette's, or farming faction on Tier 5 A wings, or dueling freelance, rebel and even Imp pilots in space....how can you justify less MASS if the ship is still nimble enough?

Curious on this one as it has "bugged" me since becoming a pilot. Also, what kind of mass does the Grievious ship carry?

I kinda like the tells I get from them after they flew straight into my triple RE'd rewards mounted on my heavy X

I'm fine if it stays the way it is. If I meet a pilot with equal or better skill in it, I'll be dead 9 times out of 10 because of it. But I'm fine with that, if it isn't the JSF, it would be something else. I no longer think a pilot with lesser skill/tactics will be lifted to my level because of it.

When JTL first came out, I mastered Freelance Pilot on one of my 3 toons, and that has been the only one I've gotten master on. Since RotW's came out, I've been grinding Imp pilot on one of combat toons (my Master pilot is a crafter and is not RotW enabled) so she can fly the new ships. The interceptor handles great, but the problem is, the interceptor's weapon location is much differnet as far as where you shoot.

A freelance ship pretty much hits straight ahead, where as you have a small gap there on the interceptor. I had the hardest time hitting anything, then I got 4000 imp pilot and used the Jedi Starfighter, now with an Ion and Disruptor i tear though teir 5 ships like butter. I can chace down and stay behind those pesky A-wing's. I'm loving it.

I haven't tried the Grevious ship, nor the Royal Guard Interceptor, but for the moment I love my ETA-2, and have ground out from 4333 to 4443 in it, and will most likely continue to use it. As for PvP goes, I can compete with Rebel A-wings, and it has a small profile (90k mass help allt as well).

I fly a pair of ships-- the JSF and the Imperial Guard TIE. After I got the JSF, my favorite ship, the TIE Advanced, became a miner. I'll fly the Imperial Guard TIE exclusively once I find the right single weapon to put in there. I have a pair of RE'd L7 blasters in the JSF so it dishes out some nice damage.

The crimson TIE is so fun to fly, my JSF is starting to get lonely. I'm not confident enough to PvP in it without some more practice, but I will bet it's going to be hard to track. With nice PYR motor with high top speed, this thing is just sick.

JSF is the ship that i'm actually using with my imp char, also is a jedi so i think is quite suited to him... if i prefer it to my other ships i really dunno, i have also a very good oppressor and i think they are equal in efficency...

the oppressor have more firepower with 2 lv10 RE guns and 3 pre nerf space bombs launchers, the JST have a very good profile and with a fast engine is quite difficult to hit.

even the new "noob" heavy mass TIE is quite good IMO, decent profile and nice stats but i think is inferior to the other 2 ships...

for my rebel i really like the heavy X-wing and there is my chosen ship

for my freelance i wish to have money for a grievous fighter eheh , i really like the kraytthat there is my"heavy fighter", forthe fast one i like the little heavy mass scyk , but probably grievous is more efficent than it.

Here's a little hint with the Intercepter... So you're laser don't converge (we all knew that already) but rolling makes all the difference. First off it helps you turn out of an engagement if need be, but you get a nice spiral of fire going towards your target as well. No matter which way they turn you're bound to get a few shots in which will help you lead your target.

the JSF is my dream come true. I was able to circle around the corvette so fast neither it nor the gunships could hit me, as I slowly widdled it down by myself without using the "low and in front" tactic.

I still love my JSF, but I prefer to use my Grevious, since it's replaceable. And the style of the Grev really fits my character (loooooong lazy lines of itlook like thelovechild between a Jag XK-120, and a Spitfire). A little purple and black glossy paint, a little fur in the cockpit, and some red glow going on underneath (courtesy of the floating red "?"), and she's my "Pizzimp Mobizzle."

I'm still having weird problems trying to hit imperial guard ties...I hit often but only some of the hits register damage. Even after disabling one it would show hits but not take damage.

I got my ETA-2 Actis Interceptor when I went imperial to start doing all 9 aces. I'm not even loading it up 'til I'm back as an Alliance Ace pilot I'd imagine it's fun to fly, but not a challenge to fly.

I think this ship is a real piece of crap. I dont know how you folks can live with such light equipment- i mean, to get a decent engine on it I have to savrifice the guns, which I hate. I am going to give it a try when I have the time, but afetr my first flight I simply packed it away. Simply not enough power- not near the Rihk or Krayt or even a Kimo.

We like it because of it's survivability. That is, because you can dodge laser fire even if they're coming at you like raindrops. Try doing that with a Krayt or Rihx.

Nothing can mount what a freelance ship can, Freelance ships can pack alot, but loose in manueverablity. Basiclyit comes down to what you prefer.
