go with the X-wing

grievous is a once in a lifetime ship only... its a shame to decay the hitpoints on it when you cant go to deepspace for decayfree repairs.

the big problem for new pilots is finding good guns with low mass to stick into it. Getting the new questonly 180k mass one would help alot butI dont know if its fixed yet since I dont have one, the 100k mass X-wing is the best pve fighter of all the older ships.

The3 guns on the X creates a firepattern of 2 triangles, one on each side of the cockpit. Its alot easier to hit small targets with an X-wing.

if you just cant decide... get a Y-wing longprobe, more mass than your regular Y-wing and it has both guns pointed forward and an extra missile slot.

the A-wing is weak in pve, 1 gun just doesnt cut it. you can get a RE'd level 8 reward gun into it if you have one though... but i still prefer the other ships.

well... bottom line: get the X-wing, testfly it and your grievous.. if you feel comfortable with the X then use it for the grind up.

I'm sorry, but this is poppycock!!!

Take a look at most of the PvP threads here. The A-wing has the smallest to-hit-profile of all the Rebel ships. The only one even close is the Jedi Star fighter, that rebs cant get yet. Most serious PvPers go with the A-wing. It's not hard to kit out properly, you can use crafted and looted parts. I even managed to get a lvl7 crafted cannon, MkIII protons, decent shields and armour in to mine, and have mass to spare. Yes, the X-wing has fire power, but it's too bloody easy to hit. Yopu cannot go head to head wioth an Oppressor and expect to come off best, try in an A-wing and you will have a bloody good chance. In the right hands, the A-wing is an awsome fighter. I'd PvP in mine all the time if I could.

Ok I hold my hands up for that .

However, with a well equiped A-wing, and the right droid programs. It's still possible to outdamage an X-wing of the same caliber. I have done so, and have had it done to me by a friend. So it can cut it in PvE. I've even taken the ISD solo with the A-Wing. Ok, it takes a few more runs, but the sheer speed and size, make it impossible to hit. I haven't tried it with the Corvette, however. That remains to be seen.
