I'm a Master Carbineer/Master Shipwright/Master Artisan, and I find that the combination works rather well for me. I'm decent in PvE on the ground thanks to my carbine's damage, I can RE all of my loot, craft as needed, and I'm not too likely to get slaughtered on the way to my harvester. The only real downside is that I can only have two vendors. I could use more. Still, I'm really attatched to the "Homemaker" title, so I keep Master Artisan. If I ever decide I don't need that, I can probably pick up a few extra vendors.

That's exactly what I do - I'm a master shipwright, master pistoleer, 3003 merchant - and I love it. When I get burned out on crafting (and holy crap, do I ever) I can hit space or ground combat for awhile. It works great for me.

i figured id do Master Carb/ Master SW. not sure wat else to do with the SP...dont really want a vender cuz i dont want to do factory runs and stuffi HATE that....as well as i HATE crafting....but shipwright would be very useful....mayb if i had a macro of some sort....

Even if you only do REing, you want a vendor. Trust me, those components add up.

The two templates I've been toying with are...
- MBH / MSW / xxx4 Merchant - CL55 that leaves decent xp caps for those still finishing the FS grind. Decent terrain nego and mask scent for outside traveling. Lots of vendor space for either selling or storing components.
- MTK / MSW / xxx4 Merchant / xx2x Medic - CL55 with basic healing. Innate armor and really only one weapon to save on combat costs. High defense but not much offense. Also doesn't provide much in terms of xp caps.

Being a MSW is difficult and time consuming. If you are in it for the long haul as a business, it will definitely eat into your flying time. Not to mention getting tells in the middle of a mission from someone asking you for a price on ship, only to tell you that they can get it cheaper elsewhere. 
I'm MSW/Rifleman/Merchant/Master Pilot with a cl of 30 and no points. I have 2 shops, way too many vendors and never enough time.

A good way to stop that from happening is to not sell ships. I've found that they aren't worth the resources that go into making them, and certainly not worth the tells.

Actually the more I think about it the less sense it makes to take up a complete crafting profession just for the RE aspect. I'll just have to find a non-afk SW on bloodfin.

well its not just for REing, id build my own ships in case i needed one...my own components...i just wouldnt sell stuff or go around telling peopl im a MSW....never where the tag...so id b good...mayb one vender to sell loot i dont need but not much else

Sorry I was more thinking out loud towards my own question since I was contemplating the same thing but only for RE'ing.
