Thread: Where do these people come from?

I have been very lucky. I've been asked to help only three times, the first two were when I was new and, I err, did what I do on the ground, I ignore them, utterly. The last time a young pilot in a z-95 was holding out in the docking bay of a Neut Station, while Tier II Imp NPCs tried to get him, then, I helped, and helped on thier next phase as well. I felt good, nice being asked, nice being able to come to someone's aid. They were obviously in distress but, I'll add that they only wanted so much help, nothing more.

I've run into several pilots KSIng, particularly around the Endor Spawn. Each time the Pilot in question was a Neutral Ace. The first time I was much more at fault than they. No tells were exchanged, personaly, I didn't feel the need to, the other times I didn't feel it amounted to much either. One KSing Attempt pissed me off, it was a duty mission, and, somehow, he was able to damage my targets. My initial response was once of possessive anger there, these were Mine! lol. I finished the wave, and... recognized the Pilot from a ground group I had participated in as a different char. I followed him, and observed him attempting to shoot down targets... he could barely damage them, when he was able to hit them. I Did exchange tells with him, asking him what weapons he was using, what Droid Commands, etc. His responses were quick, open, friendly. BTW, he was a Jedi. I liked him on the ground, and found his willingness to ask questions and seek answers, yet work on his own to be refreshing.

I've only been challenged to duel once before. I lost. I still wonder about that. I was blown out of the sky by someone who didn't move from, at all, it irks me, and presses me, now, to practice getting up and out of the way from a stationary target. My first bit of Space PvP and, despite a very poor showing, I liked it, and honored the result. A lot to learn still why does that make me happy? hehe

Doesn't take long to figure out someone's only talking because you've just freed him up from the responsibility of having to pilot his ship.

Classic.

Been grinding and spending cash on my alt's pilot with the specific intention of making this my PVP toon.

The trouble is, the only active Imp PVP guild on my server (who also PVP in space) have that exact same "OMFG I Just PWn3D j00h0h0h11!!!!" attitude and it's putting me off getting involved.

I do occasionally get requests to do all the work for someone in space but I think most people don't ask since I'm also a Master Entertainer, Image Designer, Musician, and Dancer on the ground.

I had to listen to half an hour of high falutin crap the other night, because I "interrupted my [his] faction grind with unwelcome PvP" the other night. That's amusing enough in itself, but there's more.

We were in Deep Space.

There were two of them and the encounters began when his wingman came within about 10seconds of loadkilling me.

They were both in JSF.

I was alone.

It took them 3 trips to finally get me gone, and even then it was only because they had finally whittled away my armor.

He never came up with a good solid response to my reply "but it's a PvP zone" He didnt so much engage in inane trash talk as just try to make me feel guilty. Lot's of high sounding muck about gentleman's agreements and showing restraint, and how I was "a kid" for repeatedly blowing them up. It was actually more fun than your garden variety hate tells.

I guess the signs on the door of DS aren't big enough. Maybe I should start by introducing myself as the Risk you face for your faction Rewards...

Not sure why either, he digs into me, and i just had this overwhelming urge to explain to him that hes the billy badass he thinks he is. hell, im not the billy badass ppl seem to think i am. Theres always someone better then you. If i wasnt 20 kills into my mission , i might have taken that duel, but i didnt think it was worth it at that point in time.

Still, its ppl like that, .. are so damn irritating, used to not have to put up with this BS. Now its every other SOB out there.

Starmaker? Ahh..yes, he is the one who is the self proclaimed '3rd best pilot in the game'. Erm...all I can say is people like this are funny. In fact my whole view on ingame ego has changed and has been for a good while now. Basically..if people get so hot and bothered about how good they are through tells..well they suck plain and simple. Not that it really matters. I mean...space pvp is fantastic fun, but with the attitude that guy displayed, well...I can only laugh and mock them relentlessly in my own mind because it's pathetic. No game is worth getting so competitive over..because then the game ceases to be a game.

As for your attitude in that screenshot Rapax..well, since I know you, I know you're just reacting like that because basically the other guy is asking for it so fair enough..plus what you say is true anyway. I'm still finding the 'I've heard of you, I need you dead' line Starmaker put to you particularly humourous..I'd like to believe he is roleplaying with that one, but I don't think he is .

But meh...yeh I know what you mean and I would have put the guy on ignore sooner rather than be exposed to radiation of the arrogance type. I believe he wishes to duel me still so I think I'll humour him...if I lose, I don't care...I fly for fun, not glory and if I win..well yay..whatever. Sure I like winning, but from my early pvp experiences I've learned that having the whole 'tude thing going does nothing but get you sneered at . Ihave been realising for a long while nowwhere the significance of giving no quarter and expecting no quarter can save a lot of time and effort. It is the best attitude to have...doesn't mean you can't still have ingame friends or hold a certain amount of respect for people etc...just as a default mindset...it is faultless.

I knwo it's apvp zone, and I'm first to attack people in there even if they are just there to grind fp. Fact is, they should be prepared, nothing else to say about it. I go into DS to get faction, I always go overt, but I always pack Image recs just in case. If I get attacked, so much the better, it breaks the monotony. But as we have a rep for being a polite bunch with chivalric values I may creat a macro where i can target a player and ask/warm him he's in a pvp zone and prepare to be attacked. this would then let him reply if he wanted to be left alone. I respect sometime people don't want to pvp, but it's safer to grid FPin DS then Kessel due to no decay. Sure kessel brings another level to the game, but I like DS, it's a comfy place. Kessel is harder, and full of people who don't hold the values of PvPers in high regard

It's a war, it's not supposed to be safer. If they're overt, the risk for their reward is no longer the environment, it's me.

The only time I'll honor a request to be left alone by an overt is if an overt Ace is in Kessel helping pilots get master. The faction is the only reward they pull for doing that to help people out, and they should be encouraged to help people out.

Now that more fps= more bases= more lag on my home planet, I have a very definite interest in cutting off the fp grind at the source when I can.

Yes it is a war, but there is some honour and manners between us pilots, especially on Chimaera. If some asks not to be attacked then I tend to leave them alone. If they attack me later on, then god help them, as I will carry on hunting them down, as they broke my trust. Even though it is a PvP zone, people do go there for other reasons. I often take noobs/lower level players up in mutli person ships. If I'm in the Arc that's fine as I can defend myself in that as it is. But if I have a noob crew in my Nova, as opposed to my PvP crew, then the last thing I need is someone trying to rip me apart, but something I accept as it is a pvp zone. So if I'm showing some noobs the ISD then I would rather be left alone to do some sight seeing, as I'm not about to start attacking people. I must say that when I'm in the Nova with my PvP crew I do often get /tells asking if I'm there for PvP or sight seeing, to which I reply PvP

Please don't quit... come to Lowca and blow the snot outa my rebel hind end... it all good... if I am overt grinding I don't have my RE parts, or a good chassis with me and if I am in DS bring it!

I itch for PvP even if I get blowed up.
