For an Interceptor you'll want low mass on as many parts as you can, generally Mark III components.

Engine - either a looted or a Shipwright-made (60's -70 speed with 60s yaw etc. is decent, higher speed is great)

Reactor - shipwright-made only ( a good mark III reactor will be under 8k mass and over 14K energy )

Armor and Shields - Shipwright-made ( mass around 6k, 1.1 k hps/ shields 6.5k mass 1.2 sheildwith at least 8 regen )

Weapons looted and RE'd (reverse engineered) - you can use Shipwright-made but looted will often make up for lower max damage with higher penetration stats. typically 0.6 -0.68 vs. shipwrights 0.48 (blasters)The penetration determines how much ofyour max damage potential gets thru to hurt your target, the higher the number the better. Pay attention to the weapon stats, some are only good for damaging sheilds - Ion cannons, some just for armor - disrupters, Blasters hit both but at lower penetration rates, typically max of 0.48.

Capacitor - looted and RE'd( you want as high a regen and eng. cap as you can find and low mass, you can typically keep your weapons running hot with a decent lvl 2 RE'd Capacitor, Mass under 2k, 30+ regen 800+ eng, with that you can keep the trigger down non-stop with most weapons that will fitin your Interceptor. Only one weapon slot / one hardpoint)

Booster - looted and RE'd (lvl 4 boosters are your best bet for an Interceptorlook for low mass 3kish, 24+ speed 160ish energy useage and as high of an engergy store as possible avg being 1600, good being 1900)

Droid Interface -looted and RE'd or Shipwright-made( low mass and low speed are what you want )

Droid or Flight computer - Droid Engineer( based on your pilotskill box level determines what level commands you can use and the lvl of the flight computer)

Ordnance - Shipwright-made (typically based on how much mass you have left, if any, missle type is often mission-specific, spacebombs for gunboats and Novas's etc)

Countermeasures - Shipwright-made ( ywings and bwings love to lob missles at you, make sure you keep this loaded with Micro chaff or better)

With this basic layout you can do well against packs of Tier 4 npc fighters and Tier 5 depending on your skill.

Check around before you by the first Interceptor Chassis you see,get the Highest mass rated chassis you can find,an extra 100 mass can makethe difference between being able to load Advanced Blasters vs. Heavy Blasters(for example) I had adv. in mine.

Find a good shipwright, and see what they can do for you, many are very good at making parts to fit your needs. As an Imperial your ships are low on mass, you'll have to be creative to get everything in your ship and enough power to keep it running.

Interceptor is all about quickness and firepower, but you have to be able to survive a few hits too. Some will say no armor, but If you look around you can find decent looted and RE'd components for sale on vendors and even the bazaar as other pilots upgrade that will allow you to keep your mass low enough to cover all of your needs to some extent.

Weapon overcharge and Engine overchargedroid commands are your best friends, get them and use them often up to overcharge 3, overcharge 4 will fry systems, dont' use it.

The above is of course just my opinion based on my experience as an Imperial Pilot.
