Thread: Is it possible to solo all the way to ace?

Capacitor to Shield Shunt (CTSS) takes all remaining power from your capacitor and puts it to replacing your shield. It's awesome. Especially for strafing runs on tougher targets. Combined with Capacitor Overload (CO) you really start to see the benefit. But, the tactic is basicly to head toward the tough target firing all the way. With CO you will not drain your Capacitor (or you need a higher level program). In fact, you probably won't put a dent into it. As soon as you get past your target, boost out of their range. As you start your turn for the next strafe, CTSS to replace most of your shield. As you turn, your Cap will recharge for the next run. As you boost after the next run, your cap will recharge enough for your shields. You can keep doing this until you wear down the target enough.

Someone powerleveled me to 1211. But since, I have insisted on solo without any RotW ships. I'm 4333 now and doing things on your own really helps you to become a better pilot I think. It has forced me to learn parts of the game I would not really have looked at if it had been easy. When you get to a stumbling point, there's probably a part of your ship or tactics you need to improve. I had a major issue where I failed the mission 6+ times. I went and almost completely gutted my ship and put in good crafted items. Then, it was a cake walk. Later, I had a major stumbling point. Discovering droid programs made it easy. My last stumbling point was dealing with small fast tier 4 craft. I was hitting them, but just scratching them. So, I switched to a 2 gun chassis (TIE/Advanced) and loaded another gun. That caused issues with power. So, I discovered Reactor Overload. After that, they started dieing much faster and my missions stopped timing out.

There is a way through all the missions I've seen. The problem is seeing the part I'm missing and putting it in place. Someone could tell me these things. But, the hard lessons are the most memorable. Plus, seeing a mission suddenly go from 'impossible' to easy because I have changed one thing helps to show how important that thing is.

Stay in the adv Z-95 and keep upgradeing your parts(guns, shield, cap, missles if you use them) and you should be good.Tier 3/4 you can switch to the X if you like, the Y's are tricky to solo in at least until you have alot of practice in them although you can turn the LP into quite the tank that will take a ton of punishment.

Very possible. Biggest mistake I see new pilots make is ignoring droid programs - see my sig.

I solo'd all the way to 4433 without using droid commands on my first run through ace (I didn't know what the deal with them was... and I was cheap). After getting droid commands, it wasn't even a challenge any more.

So far I have done 7 tracks all solo 0 help on any of it. So yes so far all can be done solo even the seemingly impossable missions.

Tip: make sure you use and upgrade you droid/ flight computer (I would say this is more important than getting a new ship or components). Use only these droid programs of the appropriate level

  • Reactor overload (neutral command)

  • Engine Overload (Imperial Command) DO NOT USE Level 4 (bugged)

  • Weapon capacitor Overcharge (Neutral command)

  • Weapon overload (Imperial command) DO NOT USE Level 4 (bugged)

  • capacitor to shield shunt (neutral command)

If you don't use the droid you cannot solo.

This is true of all the ones I've done so far except Crimson Phoenix. That one was laughably easy. Vortex and Havoc have just a couple of missions that would be pretty tough to do solo without droid commands. RSF had some tough ones in tier 2 and 3, so if this is your first run through a freelance squadron like mine, they would also be difficult without droid commands. RSF's tier 4 was a letdown after the tough tier 2 and 3 missions though.

I was reading the guide on the alakahzam (sp) website for the Syrens quest guide. The last part is a space mission and he said he had 2 ace pilots and a 4333 pilot and the ship wiped them all out. So I was nervous going into it solo. But I thought I was give it a shot.....LOL. It was so easy, I laughed the entire time on the way back to the station.

Ah, and on a side note, there you have nice firm evidence that the "Ace" tag does not, in fact, mean Ace. If three ships were wiped out on that mission, then the two aces deserve to have their tags stripped from them. Okay, maybe not that severe.

Regarding questions on droid commands, I sense that the posters still have not read the guide in my sig, or the one in the FAQ. Understanding your equipment and abilities is just as much a part of being a pilot as flying well.

When JTL first came out i made it to 4433 havok squad in the first week or two solo without droid commands (at the timemost people didntknow their uberness and the fact that CtSS didnt exist ) and un RE'd gear + rewards. Most are walks in the park if you know how to fly and droid commands almost make them hard to fail.

Wierd... I'm finding Vortex easier than CP. Maybe it has to do with the order in which they're beaten (ie. your first one will seem hardest simply because you had to learn everything on the way up through it).

Although I'd like to meet the person who thinks the third T3 mission for Storm Squadron is "pretty easy" ... or the fourth T3 for BE.

my first pilot was fine until the 4th tier3 mission in black epsilon, now after that mission i soloed everything else up to the vette. and then i mastered rsf ace(i think it was bugged it was so easy) with zero help except to the vette where i helped a few others get the ace title.
