Once the engine is gone, it is easy top creep around the sides from underneath the vette to take out the guns. The firing anlges of the guns will keep you from being fired upon.

Also, add the following to my list of 9:

10) Clean up both gunboats.

Ceadric Fa'son (Bria): Elder Jedi / Rebel Ace Pilot
Wyno Fa'son (Bria): POB ONLY SW (Full Suit) / Imp Ace / Blood Gulch Mayor
Bordeaux Fa'son (Bria): Drunken Master Medic / SA Ace Pilot
Wyno Fa'son (Wanderhome): Master Shipwright / Rebel Ace Pilot

You can do it. Personally, I wouldn't do the A-Wing. I took the A-wing against the ISD in DS and it works great there, but the loss of firepower you need in the short strafing runs on the vette and ,especially, the power in killing the fighters, will really be a pain. If you can get a good engine, you'll be fine with the regular X-wing, or better yet, get the Adv. X-wing.

Not to deter you from trying it in your A-Wing if you want to. Go for it if that will work best for you.

I prefer my JSF...but am just interested in soloing it in an Awing...just to have done it in one.

So do you have the heavy xwing? Reward shield and guns? It sounds like your biggest obstacle is the fighters taking so long. That was always the hard part for me until I got the heavy xwing (which I have 2 RE'd reward guns, each 2500-3800) and 1 non re'd gun (3600ish damage). Now it is a matter of a few minutes to take out the fighters, and I have killed the vette so many timesI can do it in my sleep.

My advice to you would be to try and get better guns. If not, bring a couple tier4 buddies to help you take out the fighters. Also, if you are at the spawn point waiting for the vette to show up, you should have about 45 mins to take it out. Once I take out the fighters, I always follow the vette from a distance UNTIL IT TURNS. When the vette turns is when it does its little dance of death. I have never timed it, but I know that if I wait to attack until right after it turns and levels out, it wont turn again b4 I can disable it (which takes at the most 5 mins). When I use my xwing I take out the gun boats first, but if I am in my arc-170 with only one gun, i'll disable the vette and then take out the GB's after, since it takes awhile with only 1 gun.

The components of the vette are pretty weak. With one 3800 damage gun its only 2 or 3 hits to destroy a component. After gun 5 is down it is pretty easy to sit stationary in front and below (150m below its line of flight) and wait for the vette to come into range, then you can take out both shields from one spot.

Lastly, if you are on ahazi send me a tell andI will come help

Heh, thanks, I'm on Chim though

That's pretty useful advice anyway.

I do have the heavy x-wing, but I'm reluctant to use it just in case something goes wrong - I'd hate it to decay before I get out to deep space...

Definately going to try the A-Wing though, I was in Kessel waiting for the spawn (still hadn't come after 2 hours, and no gunboats at the exit either) and decided to try taking on 2 agressors - worked really well. They weren't able to hit me much (unlike the x-wing) so I didn't have to back off to recharge shields which made them go down a lot more quickly despite having only 1 gun.

If all else fails I'll take the heavy x-wing.

Determined to solo this now...

Does the ravager always spawn in the same place?

I have wp 7340 7550 6268.

It spawned there on my first attempt, but I haven't seen it since.

Honestly, once you know how to move through heavy fire, the ship you're flying doesnt matter. I've soloed vettes and the ISD in a Bwing, and if you think your X lacks maneuverability...

Here's my advice: learn the corkscrew. a spinning dive where you keep your nose pointed at the target, but you have enough yaw to make a continuous diving barrel roll. You avoid fire on the way in, if you are having trouble hitting then you steady out for the few seconds of clear fire you need, then corkscrew back out with a boost. The Awing won't be of much help to you if you don't learn how to avoid the fire in the first place.

Also, I never waste time on more than gun 5. I either use a missile for the reactor (everything else is a clear shot) or I use the move I described above to get the reactor. When im feeling really lazy I use missiles on the shields too.
