If you'd like to help the shipwright do this I'm sure they wouldn't mind. The problem is that for every master lvl ship they have stocked they just used over 100k resources, so that means that for every 10 master ships they have up on their vendors they have just used 1mill+ units of resources. Try keeping that kind of resources alone stocked and you'll find that it's simply not possible as quickly as everything sells out. Bring your local Shipwright some steel let them use your lots if you aren't etc.... Rent your lots or exchange them for components/chassis lol there are many different things you can do. When JTL came out I offered free ships to those that let me use their lots for a single spawn period.

Oh and just so you know, the loot drops being changed(if in fact they did get changed, no hard data on this yet) was not due to shipwrights lol. But your welcome to think what you want.

I wasnt blaming the shipwrights for the "nerf" was just askin. As far as "helping" a shipwright, I do everytime I buy something, they get the credits. I'm just glad I know afew.

I filled my inventory with loot by hitting one spawn for less than an hour. I've been doing this since JTL came out, so I've seen no change in loot drop frequency.

Maybe the original poster is just unlucky?

Yes. I have been protesting this along the way. The shipwrights have been crying out for people to nerf loot drops. They nerfed the quality of the loot drops but that was not enough. They shipwrights have been insisting that they make ALL loot very rare. If you dont believe me, just check out their boards. I had decide to boycott shipwright and use only looted components, but now with the state of loot drops there is no option for me except to quit SWG.

It is so horrible how a greedy few can so readily and easily destroy the game for EVERYONE. This is the worst thing to happen to SWG yet.

I am going to do some heavy piloting this weekend and if things are as bad as I have heard then I am cancelling all of my SWG accounts. I strongly suggest that we band together and boycott all crafted items if possible.

And this is coming from a shipwright.

No we have not all been crying for anything like that!!

Starcia sometimes seems not to read posts, just assumes that any post looking for new ideas is going to nerf the loot.

If you are that close to leaving if loot gets changed at all, then I'd seriously take a look at how interested you really are in playing SWG. Just a thought...

Ive noticed a massive cutback in the amount of loot dropping for me, before the reward engine-change patch, I routinely filled my inventroy with crappy loot, and found one or two usable/RE'able parts among that in a couple of hours. Now I get around 10-15 pieces of loot in the same time period.

There is a vocal group of Shipwrights who are trying to get loot nerfed into scrap, they want space loot to mirror the ground game, with pilots FORCED to buy everything from Shipwrights, and the only loot being enhancements for craftable items and the occasional "superloot" part. They dont care whether or not Shipwright parts are a good option, just that they are the only option.

Well, this is one Shipwright who thinks they should shut the hell up. I enjoy RE'ing loot, I enjoy taking up my ship and being able to earn money selling the crappy drops to the Chassis Dealer NPC, and I enjoy the fact that I'm not being bombarded with "I have this loot componant, use it to make me XXX and I pay you 1k".

I play a master shipwright. Most shipwrights are not asking for a nerf to loot. What we are asking is that the components we producebecome boosted so they are on par with most looted items. We understand that there should still be some looted items which will be better than we can produce. And also that RE'd items should be able to combine the best of all looted items to make even beter parts.

I agree that you are not asking for a nerf, but for the sake of balance it is highly unlikely that the DEVs will boost the stats on crafted components. Therefore what we get is a nerf to loot. The DEVs are trying to help you as they believe it is more important for players to be involved with the different aspects of JTL. Where they screwed up is by spoiling us with good loot and a lot of it in the begining. Now that they have scaled that back it feels like a nerf.

There is loot but it is very random and deminished. I went to Kessel the other night and blasted away several Ties. For a long while I got nothing, thenI got on a streak and got some loot then drops went cold again. It is unfortunate that the DEVs cannot find a happy medium for this issue, yet they probably never will.

I feel that drops should be higher for low tier NPCs to help benfit new pilots. Especially since the cost for Pilots can get quit high with the components and chasis that wear down quickly from the beating you get as a new and intermediate pilot. Gamespot's review of JTL pointed out exactly the problem with JTL and SWG in general, and that is that this game rewards devoted, hardcore players and makes it very difficult for new players to get in this game.

Loot in space is importnt to all Pilots for the reason that it helps to augment crafted components that are not available when SWs run out of stock. I believe the DEVs should equalize the variance of the stats so that on average a crafted component has the same stats as a looted component, but, also give crafters and the loot a chance to yield exceptional components from time to time. Conversely, there needs to be a middle ground so that SWs do not have a formula for always creating "uber" componentsbut loot should not always be "uber" so that Pilots have a reason to buy crafted components.

If that were the case then I believe loot could be more frequent without impacting anyones "fun factor".

There are some SW components which are obviously broken. We cannot build a decent capicator to save out lives. Boosters we build are far inferior to looted ones. And since engine Yaw/Pitch/Roll are 3 seperate experimentation lines, its impossible for a shipwright to build a manuverable engine. These are the things most of use are asking for. I do not see this as a demand for a nerf to space loot.

And you cannot blame us for wanting our profession fixed. And you cannot expect not expect us not to ask for our profession to be fixed.

I took a break from shipwright for a while because I don't have the time to keep up the harvesters during the holidays and I'm now broke. I've had to start selling off my old looted components to the chassis vendors because re'ing even one level 8 component = 56k money lost - and that's only if you loot them yourselves. Only the people with a lot of funds will be able to afford to do this now. Plus that means right off the base, this new component has to be 56k + whatever profit an SW can get.

Not complaining or anything, its part of the game and allows me to do more piloting now. Actually I'm making a lot more money than I did as shipwright selling these components.

There have been many posts from shipwrights asking that all loot be made "very rare" and people complaining becuase they can ONLY make 1.5 million a night as a shipwright. For me an others who have posted, the looting system was what made Space fun, and space is what made the game fun for us again.

There have been other pilot complaints about the changes they are trying to have done and even complaints from other shipwrights. They are wanting the looting system made like weaponsmith or armorsmith, essentially turning space into another dull grind like the ground game because 1.5 million a night is not enough for them.

Hey if all the pilots here dont care that the shipwrights are trying to make huge changes involving cutting off their primary revenue stream and forcing them into

Hit a key and post went through...

Hey if all the pilots here dont care that the shipwrights are trying to make huge changes involving cutting off their primary revenue stream and forcing them into random vanilla weapon configurations then fine. However I am sure that most people will wait to protest this until it is too late. If you know anything about the history of patches in this game, once the damage is done they rarely reverse it. Space was so much fun for me and brought the life back into the game.

Many shipwrights are asking to make loot very rare in space force everyone to buy factory made "random vanilla" components. This concept really upsets me like you could not image. The reason is that shipwright is a small minority of the population while there are thousands of pilots out there. Most established shipwrights are already making a killing. Why thousands of players should have their games ruined so that a few already established wealthy can make 2.5 million a day instead of 1.5 million a day is not justified to me.

As you can see it is the shipwrights who are one starring and insulting just as they do to other pilots and shipwrights (myself included) who disagree with the big loot nerf they are calling for.

Sorry as a shipwright, I'd say it's not the greedy shipwrights who are whining - it's the inept ones. They aren't making any money cuz they craft crap.

I have always tired to stay on the More loot side myself, as I never saw it as a threat - I actually liked it as a comparison to what I can make so much better.

The ONLY loot thats always better than crafted are the Tier 4 rewards that people THOUGHT were loot. They'll decay, so they pose no threat. They were EARNED and deserve to stay in the game, in fact I wish the 92.2 cert 6 Reward engine would come back - but maybe as a cert 8 to shut the whiners up.

Other than that, there are very few pieces of rare loot I would call exceptional, and the only way to really make loot exceptional is to have a Shipwright Reverse Engineer it - so I am out nothing. I have RE'd over 10,000 pieces of loot and have another 10k backed up waiting to be dealt with, I know loot. I've probably looted close to 1000 pieces on my own since launch too. I have my 99.9 cert 8 engine and a few other premium pieces of glory, but they were not the norm and I think it sucks the Devs gave in to the whiners.

A whiney shipwright is an idiot.

I apologize for generalizing... There are those shipwrights such as yourself who speeak the truth. And yes I am whining which is generally not of my character. I had really hit a low point after playing SWG for over a year. When space came i just loved everything about the system and what I loved most was the looting system. If you have ever played space simulators such as X2 The threat or Freelancer then you know that one of the most fun and intriguing parts of the system is the dynamic loot, upgrading, etc. Reverse engineering was a very exciting concept that SOE introduced, but I have seen posts where shipwrights were complaing about their own RE jobs being better than what they could craft.

There are other shipwrights who have said that they though the system was pretty much perfect and they get 1 starred and flamed and get the whole cheese with whine thing thrown at them when it is the shipwrights who are whining and trying to get loot nerfed (although not all of them)

after reading some of this i thought about how much money i spent on my treck through pilot, ALL my lower level ships were outfitted with only looted parts, and I still spent millions and millions on chassis ,countermeasures ,missile launchers ,and the consumable stuff. It really dosent effect me too much as i have pretty much all i need and rarely go into space except to help on missions. But still SW already got a hold of the playerbase , 500k for a ship I used for 3 days, not to mention the cost to turn it from blueprint to chassis. Why dont they themselves go into space and loot some stuff to make up for only making 1.5 mil a day .Sheesh some people.

And I have to think about all of the money I make in space from the Shipwrights selling them RE loot. 150k minimum per hour.

I guess it's all in how you do it.

On my first run through the lower levels, this was partially true.

Example:

Bought a standard TIE 50K to shipwright

Bought tier I components for it -70k to shipwright

Got TIE-IN - 100k to shipwright

Upgraded parts- 120k to shipwright

Found a looted capacitor and engine what was better than what I had

Got a TIE Interceptor - 200k to shipwright

Parts for TIE intercepter when leveling - 150k to shipwright

Reward gun

TIE Agressor - 400k to shipwright

1 looted gun and 1 looted engine I found

Upgraded shields other components - 200k to shipwright

Since i liked to equip the best stuff possible, I had only a looted capacitor and engine on my agressor at 4444

Everything else was made by a shipwright.

Now I am 3333 Frelance on my second round and I have yet to get any loot that is any better than what I can buy. My capacitor sucks and I have not looted a single capacitor. I have not looted a weapon in over a week. I looted a couple engines but they were not any better than what I bought when I first crafted. Where is the anticipation? What point there to even go up? People generally buy shipwright made stuff when they first get to a new level and then replace it with exceptional loot along the way. Then they have to buy more stock items from the shipwright as they get that next ship or level. Then they replace those with RE jobs or loot.

I dont see what the huge issue is with this. The fact is that people are calling for big nerfs to all loot making all loot very rare, even the crappy stuff. I just dont get it and I will not stand idly by while they try to do this. It is our game too.
