Thread: Focus Thread: Missions running out of time
Rebel
Was your first trainer on Naboo, Tatooine or Corellia?
Tatooine
What is the name of or Tier of the trainer that give you the impassable mission?
General Ufwol
Which mission in the series, or duty mission, was it that failed due to the time limit being exceeded?
Imperial Patrol Duty Mission
One thing that might be relavent: the first leg of this mission is to inspect and dock with a Valarian Gunship in the Dantooine sector. Frequently I will get to that waypoint and none of the 3 Valarians have the plans I need. I have to kill all three and wait 5+ minutes for them to respawn before I find the plans. Perhaps this extra time is affecting the third leg escort mission later on?
Another theory is that the escort run that is failing has a lot of wild NPC spawns on its track, so I end up having to clear out several batches of unrelated ships in addition to the attackers during the escort.

Faction: Imperial
First trainer: Imperial outpost, talus(Black Epsilon)
Name of trainer for Ffailed mission: Insurgent, black epsilon tariner on In Dantooine Imperial Outpost
Mission leg: The second part, capturing and then escorting a Velocity Mercenary, failed twice now, first time it told me a failed to capture it, wven though i spent 45 minutes escorting it, second time I "Ran out of time" makes it IMPOSSIBLE for me continue past my Tier 4 exit quest and begin my master missions, so a fix to this ASAP would be MUCH appeciated
EDIT: as a side note, i have NEVER encountered this problem until the most recent JTL related patch, and also since the same patch, alot of things that were white to me, are now a green color, like the edges of paintings, and the loot kit Glass table top.

I am having the EXACT same problem. So is another person I have been flying with.
The color to me is red though, not green (and especially not white like it should be). I know an Ace Imp pilot who is also black epsilon who did this mission last week before the patch without problems. He said that the escort was definately white when he did it, since he could follow it (can't /follow it now).
So close to Ace...yet so far =(. Even did the vette 7 times and killed over 200 rebel ships in kessel while XP grinding.
Dravis (Tatooine)
The Tier 4 neutral Trainer on Dathomir.
The mission is for training my last box of tier 4. It is the Valarian freighter escort. I have done this alone, as well as with master pilot friends, So I KNOW I've done it as fast as is possible. It is making me angry because I have made it through the rest of pilot in a little over a week, and this one single mission is preventing me from making it to Master. There is a Large Corvette group heading out tomorrow, but I guess I won't be able to do it because of this stupid Solo-able mission.
The previous poster makes a point. There's people out there having fun. Some of us, this is the only thing between us and finishing pilot, and we're stuck. I could finish this weekend, if the thing wasn't bugged, but instead, I'd be amazed if I could finish within next week.
If this problem persists, will there be any apology? maybe in the form of getting back the time I wasted on repeatedly attempting this mission? That'd be keen. I want those hours back.

Some of you are experiencing missions that fail due to running out of time. For one type you must dock with a craft that is listless in space to repair, and then escort them out of the system. For the other suspected type you must chase down a ship in transit, disable to capture and then escort them out of the system.
- Is your pilot faction Rebel, Imperial or Neutral? Imperial
- Was your first trainer on Naboo, Tatooine or Corellia? Tatooine
- What is the name of or Tier of the trainer that give you the impassable mission? Don't remember off hand but he's on Yavin IV. He's the storm squadron tier 3 trainer.
- Which mission in the series, or duty mission, was it that failed due to the time limit being exceeded? Endor system
estroy 4 rebel fighter waves.
Here's the problem in a nut shell. According to the mission description you are supposed to kill 4 waves of fighters (always 4 fighters each wave with a combination of 3 a-wings + 1 b-wing or 2 a-wings + 2 b-wings) before the shuttle you are escorting reaches its destination. I've tried this mission at least a dozen times with each time killing well over 6 waves of fighters. After some investigating on these very forums I found out that the mission is semi timed based. You are supposed to kill each wave within 2 minutes of it spawning and before the next one spawns. Unfortunately there are a couple of factors to consider here.
1-Not everyone is able to get a group together to accomplish some of these missions. Understandable for 4th tier and master missions, unacceptable for a third tier mission. Especially when you take into account that most players are able to solo their way thru the rebel and freelance tiers (I should know, I did both without ever grouping save for the master missions).
2-With the recent AI change (hello!! have you tried killing an a-wing thats a tier above you??), reward engine nerf (bah!!!), and the fact that you almost always have to get the npc shields down to 0% (front and rear)to kill it, killing a wave in 2 minutes when the bulk of the ships are awings (that are way faster than you) can become tiresome.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Timed missions make no sense whatsoever, especially when you aren't even told the missions are timed. In the case of this mission, 2 minutes per wave is way too low given all the changes that have come down the pike since JTLs launch. My suggestion would be to either raise the time to 4 minutes OR change the format of this mission to killing a total of 16 fighters (or slightly more) to accomplish it.
On that note I'd also like to suggest making the 30 kill search and destroy master missions open ended. IE if I enter Kessel and only kill 10 enemies, allow me to leave and come back another time to finish it. This would be similar to the way the Jedi trials work and allow the player to still achieve his goals based on his or her play time.
