I would just like any rebel space station refuse to talk with Han Solo rofl!!
When i was an alliance pilot i found an intresting dialog option somewhere.
"I would like to sign up with the ground forces"
To me that indicates the game treats "ground forces" and "Navy" differently.
There is the rebel ground forces, and theres the Alliance Navy.
Theres the imperial ground forces, and theres the Imperial Navy.
Factional space stations are for the Alliance or Imperial Navy's.
So sure you could be a rebel on the ground, but, up in space, they don't know that, they just see another privateer who probably has a jolly rodger on their ship somewhere
A possible incharacter explanation for ya.

The answer to both questions is no.
The only way to do neutral pilot missions is to become a privateer. You can still keep your rebel ground alliiation however.

Thanks for the response. Just have some follow up questions.
To the second question - i totally understand that one.
But the first one confuses me. As a master rebel pilot, how would i be able tostart up the neutral pilot tree without losing my master pilot status?
I though being a privateer was another word for neutral pilot. If that's not the case, how do i become a Privateer without losing my Rebel Pilot Status?
I guess I too, am used to being neutral in the past. I want to stop the annoying storm trooper spot checks and still be a master rebel pilot. I'm worried that, because Vortex forced me to be a ground rebel, I would lose my pilot skills by dropping the alliance and going ground neutral.

You can't. You can only be one pilot profession at a time. To become a privateer you'll have to drop the entire alliance pilot tree and start with 0 xp.
>>I though being a privateer was another word for neutral pilot.
Being neutral on ground is totally different that being a privateer in space.
>>how do i become a Privateer without losing my Rebel Pilot Status?
Again, you can't. Drop alliance pilot.
>>I want to stop the annoying storm trooper spot checks and still be a master rebel pilot
You can't stop them, but you can go neutral on the ground. As a ground neutral, it doest matter if they scan you are not, just ignore them and go about your buisness. THe most you'll get is a few credits lost and negative imp faction. Being ground neutral, scans are a joke you can ignore and thumb your nose at.
>> I'm worried that, because Vortex forced me to be a ground rebel
Go crimson phonix then. But again your starting over.. but this time.. heres what you do.. Load up a Y wing and a Longprobe with all your nice level 8 or 9 parts. Max out that mass. Surrender and restart. You'll be able to fly those ships as soon as your certed. (lvl 8/9 equipment at teir 1!) You just wont be able to manage the ship parts is all.

Wow, scary.
So you're saying if i drop ground rebel i lose Master Rebel Pilot? Its not worth doing all those missions over again, even with a beefed up Y-wing. I'll stay on as a ground rebel if need be.
And in light of this new info, im not going to bother with privateer.

No, if you drop rebel ground and go neutral ... you are fine as a Rebel Pilot. If you want to go Neutral pilot ... you have to drop Rebel Pilot and start from scratch with your next profession
