I'm planning on going neutral for the ground game that is. I'm sick of getting thrown overt by droids and TEF'd by storm troopers.
My question is if I resign from the Alliance will I automatically lose all of my pilot skills? I won't even consider doing it.
Another question I have is, which doesn't relate directly to piloting but relates to my problem, is there any way of lessening my rank in the rebel faction to a level at which I won't get TEF'd or thrown overt by droids?
I mean it says in the FAQ that neutrals can be ace pilots for both Imperial and Rebel. But I've heard that if you resign you lose your piloting skills along with it.

Some people say that only one Imp/Rebel squad forces you to be a ground imp/Rebel and the other two don't. Since I fly Vortex and they nade sure I was ground rebel, I can't comment on the accuracy, but I'd say it depends on who you're flying.

You won't lose your pilot skills, it's a seperate system.
You, as a rebel on the ground could also be an imperial in space. Your ground faction has little to no bearing on your space faction.

actually thats not true if you are a rebel then you can not become an imperial pilot. i dont know about being neutral then getting imp pilot then getting rebel on the groud though you might be able to do that. but if you are neutral on ground you can be any of the 3 skills.

I am neutral on the ground. I signed up as an rebel pilot and I was automatically made rebel on the ground.... most annoying.
The Z-95 sucked too, so I was glad to make the switch to a neutral pilot and become neutral on the ground again.

I think the biggest problem youd run into is when they ask you to go to a special reb/neut/imp trainer location.
examples: Jabba's throne room, Rebel Base on Dant, Emporers Retreat..... in these cases and perhaps others being part of that faction or whatever would make things really easy.
specifically about your plan of action, you shouldnt run into any problems.

i think you get the purple tags to look at as if you were same ground faction but when you pull up ctrl "C" window, you are labeled nuetral still. Dont let purple tags fool you, but take advantage of it if ya want

Ok i see some clarification is in order here.
First of all, to answer the orginal question.
Going neutral on the ground will not effect your status as a rebel pilot.
My first mastered pilot profession was infact Rebel, as a ground neutral player.
Being a factioned pilot, you gain the faction affiliation (IE look purple on radar to other members of said faction) but you are not technically in that faction. So you can be quite neutral on the ground, and still appear to be a covert rebel to your faction peers. (even though your not)
As for requiring acutal membership in the rebel allaince, i know for a fact that the Crimson Phoniex doesnt need it. However there was one squadron that does (dont remember which one).
If your a rebel pilot however, you cannot join the imperial ground faction. Likewise a rebel ground faction cannot be an imperial pilot.
In short:
Rebel on ground can be a rebel pilot or freelancer
Imperial on ground can be an imperial pilot or freelancer
Neutral on ground can be imperial pilot, or rebel pilot, or freelancer.
Faction affiliation does effect what piloting professions you can master or what ground faction you can join.
As an aside, to earn faction points in space, to the best of my knowledge you have to be a declaired (in space) factional pilot (rebel or imperial). Ive heard freelancers don't gain faction points in space, which if true, was probably intentional to get people intrested in the GCW to pick a factional piloting profession. But thats just a guess.

Vortex Squadron is the only Rebel Squadron that requires you to be a rebel. The droid specifcally says so when he sends you off to Dantooine.

I'm rebel on ground and neutral in space, but I don't undstand why any rebel station refuse to talk with me sayng "sign with the alliance and we will talk to you", I'm just signed with the alliance.
JTL is an expansion of SWG, but in the most it seems a separate game, I don't thing it is a good stuff.

Fly for the Alliance and you can talk to them. It really makes more sense when you do.

Ok but the message of the station is "sign with the alliance...." and not "fly with the alliance...." and I'm just signed with the alliance, and I break my butt many times for the alliance, now why their space station refuse to talk with one of their agent in space?
I would just like any rebel space station refuse to talk with Han Solo rofl!!
