What you're asking is to make a single target (per faction) drop something "worth looting"... where even if a group is responsible for taking it out (one person can solo either in a fairly short time) only one person can get the loot.

Emminently exploitable.

Making it so "you can only loot from it 1x / timeperiod" would not help, there are morons on every server, and some would continue to take it out just to deny it to others.

I'm afraid this idea wasn't thought through fully.

Ok, so, multiple people means who?

Everyone in a group that has taken % damage to it? Everyone within xx range? Everyone in the system? Just the people that did the damage?

Much akin to having it only at certain hours, it will either be denied to some deserving, or granted to people undeserving...

Let's say a group goes up and 3 are dedicated to attacking the isd/station, and the other 5 are dedicated to purely PvP (take out defenders)... while yet another group of 8 is defending their own side... who gets "a rare drop"? What could be so common yet rare to give to 16 people (or even just a chance) that would not be devalued by such a drop?

Not trying to be an arse, just playing devil's advocate here.

Everyone in the system who is on the winning side gets a drop. (IE the side that destroys the target and has their station intact at that time will get their own loot drop.) So wether you are attacking the station, defending your station, or just killing enemies in the area you get to loot the item.

There are a lot of ways to ensure that this loot that is dropped doesn't become too easy to get. You can make each persons chance of getting the loot pretty low. (IE your side wins but you only have a 10% chance of looting the item.) You can set times that people are able to loot this so that there is always a healthy competition for the items and not just one side camping out the enemy station. You can make the stations spawn much more slowly. You can give the stations more hitpoints and powerful weapons. All these decisions would probably need to be made while it's on the test server.

Just a thought:

Add an asteroid belt across the middle of DS. Give pilots something to dodge and weave around while trying to evade/purse enemy fighters. The hulls of blown up ships like ISD (maybe half of it)or corvette would provide an interesting backdrop as well as another obsticleto fly around.

Probrably get flamed for this, but I'd like to see collision damage added to the game, maybe only to DS to not make it more difficult for new pilots. It just doesnt seem right to bounce my xwing across the bottom of the ISD without leaving R2's radome implanted in the hull.
