Thread: Devs: Make This change in Deep space

Revised:

Problem: Deep space needs to be renamed Dead space cause no one is ever there.

Solution: Make the ISD and Rebel Space station drop some really valuable loot. (Ground game Loot!) And change it each week. Include this in the weekly newsletter we see when we load up. When either the Rebel Space station or ISD is destroyed ALL players from the winning faction get a chance to loot the item. Each player has the chance to loot his own item. (Odds could be 90% or 10% but each person will have a chance to get the item.)

Effect: Much like on the ground people will "hang out" in deep space trying to loot these prized items. Each week you can make it different. Since this is an Open PvP area players can attack enemy players trying to take out your station.

Rule 1: Loot will only drop for a certain time period during the day. (The times are subject to adjustment, the point is that loot isn't dropping at 2am in the morning when no one is on) Rule 2: Loot only drops if your station is intact when you destroy the other station. Destruction of either station causes both to respawn at 100% health in 3 minutes. Rule 3: All's Fair in love and war. Let he mahem begin.

Conclusion - You may think dropping loot from the ground game in space doesn't make sense but in every instance the space loot dropped is only useful to other JTL players, a major minority in the game. If JTL players can loot items that are valuable to the majority of the game you will have more player participating in deep space and wanting to get into JTL. Players on the ground have the ability to kill the same creatures all day long and get items that are extremely valuable in the game, JTL players atm do not get to loot items that are even close to as valuable. If we can get these major stations to drop loot that there is a huge demand for, the players WILL come.

i like it. It makes defending your base (ISD or Rebel station) worth something, as well as attacking the opposing base. The only thing that bugs me is that it is in DS where only masters can go, but hey it just may give PvP the kick in the butt it needs

Exactly, and requiring master to participate isn't so bad, really. In order to go around killing krayt dragons or other super beasts you'll probably need to have mastered at least one combat profession.

The reb space station used to drop a near 1mil credit chip and fill your inventory with loot... needless to say I killed it often. Sadly even with those incentives I rarely found anybody in D-space. Now days there are about 5 people I see up there on a regular basis (and always kill them mwahahaha)

Actually....that's not a bad idea for getting people into space in general...drop game loot, and stop segregating the two parts of the game.

ya good idea but one problem. it is very easy to take out the ISD and by putting the a time frame where they drop wont help the fact that there is to many blind spots on the ISD that can be exploted. i've taking the SD out in under 10 minutes with barely any risk to myself. also having a time frame where you can do this makes it so that some of the popultation can not take part in it since they do not have the same playing style. if something like this was to ever be put into play they would need to take out the blind spots on the ISD and the Rebel station(i hear that it to has blind spots on it.)

but yes something needs to be done but really i do not see this luring that many people to DS. would be great if they dropped some good loot but i dont know how many more people would go into DS just to do this. But it is a good idea, but really i dont see how it would lure more people into DS. it would have to be really really good loot that would make alot of people want to go into DS to kill off the Station.

The best way i can see making DS alive is by making first there something to do with your perstige points and then put in a Faction Ranking System in DS. and the Higher your Ranking the More Perstige points you get per kill or something. and make your perstige points go to something that you would really really want that would make people PvP in DS to try to get a higher faction Rank their..

Same on my server, I'm usually the only one up in Deep Space.

Interestingly, most of the PvP action happens in Kessel. But because of decay, most people I see PvP there are seldom alone (cowards!) or are there faction farming and bugger off at the first sign of trouble.

I think this is because deep space is so croweded with ships, it's hard to find other players, and the chance of getting into the firing range of gunboats/capitol ships/fighters is a distraction of the man-against-man (or woman) challange of PvP combat.

The increased number of ships in deep space has made it a less attractive place for PvP.

Have you ever played your MP ship vs another player? Have you ever faced off with tier 4-5 NPCs without a fighter escort with you? Yeah MPs are fun, but if you haven't tried it, do so, and you'll understand better why we have a multipage thread looking for solutions to the huge issues these great ships have.

Yeah i totally agree with you that MP ships need a lot of work, wasted mass, need better components etc. Hopefully they will start to address some of these issues soon and create a more JTL focused publish but i can't see this happening too soon with the impending Combat publish

Well that was the whole point, use Pearls for the first week. (Same thing people get when they kill krayt dragons) The time table is completely adjustable and doesn't really have to be there at all. That was my way of dealing with people just looting 24/7 when most players are offline. I hate seeing people able to just stand in the same spot, kill the head bad guy, loot him and wait for him to respawn. In a pvp zone the defenses of a Star destroyer/Rebel space station will be the least of your worries, players will take you out in seconds.

And it doesn't have to be loot each week. Mabye it can be a certain amount of FS xp. Something that is in high demand to players on the ground being available in space will get people up there.

the isp and rebel station both provide a great opportunity for an instanced dungeon. why not make a true boarding party experience out of it. i realize this could take a lot of work from the devs but the idea is truly star wars and would bring a great feel into the jtl experience

They need to make these two targets have count towards control points in the GCW. This will get folks attacking and defending both of them.
