Thread: JTL after Ace = Quenkers in space
AS for you resorting to calling anyone who disagrees with you a carebear... Do you miss the carebear toys you played with 2 months ago that much that you project the name on others?
"Hi this is Sobetan and im banned (again!) and using a friends account :-)"
You're the best joke for today![]()
2) Really and your proof is? What is it that happens when you assume. Don't you make an --- out of - and --.
3) Yeah, the ground game is so screwed up because of GTEF that you have gank squads in force all the time. Think your going to 1v1 or 3v3 pvp then suddenly it's 3v5 or worse. Perma-overting won't help anything. It'll just make space empty, see UO Felucca.
4) PvP is content? LOL, okay, I guess if you consider gank squads a story.
5) Not everyone has a free high speed college to play against you with, some of us are just stuck on regular broadband. Don't think there's a difference, go play UT or something similar and take a 35ms difference in ping. Note I'm saying UT or something similar because you can see the other people's pings. Not only that, but not everyone has top-flight hardware capable of keeping up in a PvP environ.
6) I play FA 3.5, care to come there and play against me? Probably not, but then again I'm used to it. Think about it though, at least you'd have a fair chance. Here if someone has managed to get to point A first (see Kessel) then they can gate anyone when their little group is online. Now let us follow getting to point A just a bit further, if you managed to get some really nice loots, well then you've extended your advantage even further.
7) Hmm, well lack of challenge after ace may be an issue, but you don't get a challenge by being able to pick on everyone below you. Go to deep space and PvP. If there is no one there, what does that tell you about PvP on your server. If people choose not to PvP, then that's a pretty clear choice. Sorry if that means your group doesn't have a bunch of people to shoot at, but other people also cannot shoot you. Clean line of demarcation, yes?
8) Not everyone cares for PvP. Not everyone plays enough to have a bunch of friends to run around in a gank squad with.
9) For those without the desire to PvP, there is no thrill in it, only irritation at being bothered by it.
10) GCW was dead the instant gank squads formed and you had to be grouped to fight. You want GCW to go insane and give you a ton of PvP? Take off the group limit. Any overt can attack any overt, any covert can attack any overt. Of course this would lead to a large decline in overts as they would be walking targets, but hey you PvP'ers run in groups anyway.
Finally, I am not a carebear. I played UO before Trammel, before T2A. There was nothing to stop you from attacking any random player outside of town. You know how that game ended up? They created a whole land where you can't PvP! They did this because, and years of feedback (to the devs) in that game proved it: People don't like to PvP where there is a chance that they can really lose. Most of the "ardent" PvP'ers targeted the low level characters or non-combat classes. Some of them I had no problems with, they were real RP'ers. The idiot who "4$$r4p3s your corpse" was doing it simply because he got there first and enjoyed killing those who couldn't fight back. Oh you should have heard them scream when they got jumped! The only problem is that 89% of the "hardcore" PvP'ers were the l337 d00dz (powertrippers, impotent in real life), 10.9% were killing others to take advantage of them (steal their stuff, et al.), and .1% were rp'ers (following some sort of personal story).
This is why this game is "Consensual" PvP.

Maybe you're right. I guess you could say its an ISD (PvE) attack. I just want to see more PvP so I'm a little subjective.

No, just more neutrals. Knights are perma-overt, did they dissapeared all of a sudden? I see lots! More and more. Think!
4) PvP is content? LOL, okay, I guess if you consider gank squads a story.
PvP is content. Whole best-seller games are built only on PvP. Counter-Strike?Think!

Yes, sometimes you take your mouse/joystick and go to a net cafe. Yes ping matters, I know that maybe better than you. But who will bring a plastic knife to a men's fight?

Would you play Counter-Strike or XvT versus me?

In time we would have a better game. Look at village phase 4. People rediscovered groups, lol. Think!

Be neutral.

Agree, good point. I cannot cover all related things in a small post.

So 99.9% PvP'ers are l337 d00dz impotents (living in mom's basement, juvenile idiots, asking mom to play, going to bed etc). Lol. Maybe you're right. That would make me the living proof of that 0.1%. And no one made you a carebear. In fact I think you're not one.
This is why this game is "Consensual" PvP.

This is by far one of the best points made on this subject. I played UO when it was Felucca only, and my blacksmith got murdered too many times to count, mainly for my ore but I think alot of them killed me just to kill. So I used one of my other character spots ( in UO you get 5 spots) to make a Poisoner Fencer and started getting revenge. But when Trammel opened up, Felucca got empty real fast, because people that didnt like PvP had a place to go to play the game the way they wanted.
In SWG/JTL we get 1 character per acct, and not everyone has more than one acct, so they either play a crafter or a fighter or entertainer etc.....Everyone that grew up in the Starwars generation did so wanting to be part of the Empire or Rebellion, maybe not to fight for them, but to RP as a member and to help in any way they can.
By Vnicula saying it has to be perma-overt for anyone in a faction, he is saying that (I dont care if you spend the same amount of money on this game as I do, If you dont want to fight me then you must not join a faction .... you must remain nuetral). Vnicula, GO overt..... if someone wants to PvP then they too will be Overt.... Problem solved. If you force perma overt for factions. then a lot of people will just quit factions especially since they cant have 2 characters ( 1 for fighting, 1 for civilian skills). It happened in UO, it will happen here.
I hope that somehow one of these posts will get through to you (seriously doubt it, since it has taken this many and you still dont see the light) but this will be the last time I try. Good luck with your quest, but I am almost certain it is doomed to failure in the end
Its so ideal in fact that at times I wonder why hardcore PvP players play an MMO instead of just playing an FPS.
As to whole best selling games bieng PvP based.. not in the states.. top sellers are all PvE. Bottom of the barrel are PvP games.

Ever hear of someone buying Counterstrike to craft weapons or buff people?

Not everyone has a net cafe nearby. Using myself as an example, I live in a small Oklahoma town, I'm fairly sure the nearest chance to find a net cafe would be about an hour-long drive.

That wasn't PvP.

The point is, most people that go Overt bring a posse 'cause they're just chicken-shịts who won't risk thier necks. Me, I PvP on occasion. But its not my main interest.

Whether or not you are the small percentage of roleplayers doesn't matter. There's jerks out there who get thier shịts and giggles from making other people miserable. Why? Maybe its because they were picked on in school. Maybe its because they're just natural pịss ants. Who knows. The point is that if you leave an opening for ạssholes to exploit, they will.
This is why this game is "Consensual" PvP.
Peace.

Really? hmm... I have fun in Kessel (both before and after PVP changes).
