Thread: Minning in an X-wing

Rebels have all the fun LOL.

As a Freelance, I use my good ole' Dunelizard. Type 3 Mine laser at tips, tractor inboard with a Type 3 photon to "get my point across" if necessary. All the open mass? A 890 engine with a +250 booster that can fire for a full 13 seconds LOL. If I use the emergency speed trick with boost, I can get to and from the asteroids REAL fast.

A tip: Always mount the tractor inboard (weapon mounts closest to the chasie). They work ALOT better then when on the wing tips.

I use 1 mining laser, 1 tractor beam and have a regular L8 gun. I turn off the gun until I need it for defense. It works very well.

Use this macro to track the chunk's easier:
/ui action targetSelf
/ui action cycleTargetOutward
/follow;

to turn on the tractor beam use this:

/ship weaponGroup toggelTractor; (tractorbeam on/off)

you might get crazy by listen to the tractor beam though...

I use have been for a while using the same load out and laser/tracer setup as Halyen in my Heavy X and it works better then any other method i've tried, Fighter, PoV, Y-8. My method is Overload 3 on the weapons, a single shot breaks one - two chunks off the asteroid, get in behind the moving chunk, one more shot to break it, have the tractor toggled at same time but separate from the lasers and its one suck down and done, bang bang suck, repeat. I fill my 1750 unit hold every 3 min that way all my time is traveling back and forth to the nearest landing station to unload and relaunch. I wish more people did it this way instead of 100% laser miners, they slow me down with the chunk wasting as they break off more then they can chew so often. hehehe

p.s. I don't even fear kessel with this set btw, twin mining III's does fine on the top end bandits that once in a while come after me in there on the diamond asteroid runs, and anything tier 3 and below I just ignore and let pound my shields, go go cap to shield shunt!!

What am I doing wrong.....

I have a regular laser and a mark II mining laser.....no tractor beam....

I go up to the asteroid and I shoot it...I see no other asteroids that I can target break off (note I see little chunks come off but the disappear).....rinse repeat...I see little chunks flying around but nothing I can target.....I shoot the little chunks but still nothing comes into my hold.....

What's the dealio

Thanks

At a certain condition, the astroid no longer produces 'chunks.' Destroy the astroid and a new one will spawn. (You can see the condition of it by doing /ex while it's targeted.)

Perhaps you stumbled upon a bug. This happened to me before and it seems that by activating my droid programs, the asteroid started to take damage.

You don't need 2 mining lasers. The mining don't go any faster whit 2 or 3 lasers. The clue to make it faster is a tractor beam.
