Thread: Couple questions about the Jedi Starfighter...

The "heavy" ships still have to dance around, because you can fit a shield that is just as good in the JSF because of the high mass for such a small and manueverable ship, plus you get the added bonus that you are so small that your actually difficult to hit as well.

I'm actually better with my Rihx than pretty much any other ship these days. Of course, that has a lot to do with the fact that there seems to be something seriously wrong with my computer. I haven't changed anything, but everytime I log into the game these days, it's almost a slideshow. The slightest movement of my joystick has me facing well over 90 degrees away from where I was facing, unless I am at a complete stop. Makes it almost impossible to do anything but fly in a strait line, agro something, run away, turn around, and blast them. Fortunately, this was my tactic with the Rihx anyway, but with a ship that I actually have to fly, rather than sit around and blast things as they come to me, I'd be completely hosed. With that in mind, the JSF would be pretty much useless for me.

you know i forgot, if you want a ship that goes really fast as a neutral or a rebel i guess you'd want to fly something other than the B22/JSF.

Space being as easy as it is, there are nothing that cant be done in any ship (barring the starter ships and lowlevel Imp ships)


Ive personally killed both ISD and Corvette in basic YWing, Nova, Rikhxyrk, Krayt, Dunelizard (and I did reb base befor it got bugged in a interceptor) Its just a question of the right components/tactics (Exception possibly being the Cyysk mission)


JSF just makes all of it easier than it allready are

Your talking to a guy whos ran in a 40K mass T/LN, without shields, in deep space, and had no problems in PvE. Kinda sorta preaching to the chior. Theres nothing you can't do if you have a mind to do it.

The overall point being, besides raw DPS from a ship like the rhyxirk or krayt, theres really not much of a use for Bomber type ships. If they were removed from existance at this very moment, i doubt it would impact the game much, if it all.

It took you 11 hours and 27 minutes to respond to that. I've also experienced the joys of DS while flying a 40k mass ship (Kihraxz will always hold a special place in my heart). It was only a matter of time before you repled, but I'm a little surprised it took you so long.

i really don't think DS was very much fun in a 40k mass ship honestly. imo, the mass on the new ships is spot on to have fun in PVE, it's just that the hitboxes make them invulnerable (relatively) to blasters. running circles around the top of a corvette or round and round the rebel base doesn't have as much to do with mass as it does the hitbox. the same applies to the tier 5 gunboat duty in kash. you can't beat that mission in a pre-rotw light imp fighter solo. but then again you probably can't beat the mission in any pre-rotw fighter solo. in a rotw fighter it's pretty easy solo. it's not the mass persay, although it does help with DPS against the boats, but rather the part that makes you able to beat it solo is the fact that the gunboats just can't hit you.


the old interceptors were fun to fly, but the problem is why should 80% of players be prevented from going into hard areas with those ships? say whatever you like, but it was a pain in the ass to get an interceptor survivable in deep space. most pilots can't do that, so automatically flying a light fighter is out of the question for them in a challenging zone. i don't think that's really fair. you should be able to fly in PVE at master level, with the fighter of your choice, with crafted components in my opinion.


but the other end of the spectrum is what we have now with these ships that are immortal when you slap good components in them. if the hitboxes were bigger, things would be different. you'd be able to put great stuff in them still, but in the blink of an eye no more soloing the gunboat duty. no more immortalality vs corvettes, etc. etc.


it's part of the problem with rebalancing the old ships too, you can add all the mass you like, modify the chassis stats all you like, you're still going to die vs the hard content in the game solo. (AI abuse can easily beat the tier 5 boat duty, but you need 2 people)


it's pointless to talk about it though, the masses won't get reduced because players will complain, and imo rightfully so. the hitboxes will never be modified no matter what the playerbase says. so really that's that.

i mean maybe they reduce the masses and fix wo3 and it would fix things, i guess it's a fair tradeoff to not be able to be hit if you can only slap 2 level 5 guns in one of the things....
