Thread: Rebel faction farming in DS exploit

I personally find it much better to simply grind out faction on gunboats, makes absolutely no sense imo to farm the ISD, especially consistantly resetting the spawns on any other rebels that might be out there. Are they aware that they are resetting the spawns on all ships and just don't care?

I'm surprized the station gives no FP, that isn't right. But remember when the cash chips were all outta wack too /shrug.

Ok, yeah, it's similar to the freedom station "exploit", and guess what, they fixed it. And yes, maybe 1 or 2 people could get better FP doing gunboats, but when you have 10 people doing this is when the FP adds up fast at 250 a minute. Not to mention while they're doing this, they effectively have the system blockaded from any imps trying to get in. Can you say load killing? And it's impossible to protect against this 24/7 and why should players have to defend against an obvious imballance?

1. you cannot load kill, upon loading into the zone you are invulnerable and you do not load in a ISD blind spot.

2. with 10 people you would get FP *significantly* faster by killing gunboats. the reason why? simple. if everyone damages the boat everyone gets FP thus instead of getting 800 fp per 40 seconds on a boat spawn they get 800fp per 6 seconds on a boat spawn. the only thing they are doing is being lazy, and honestly they are getting about 1/5 of their FP potential by camping the destroyer.

3. thus what difference does it make if they are doing it? they are wasting potential so there's really no need to protect against it 24/7. it's akin to saying it's not fair that players be able to run amok in DS when you aren't there.

i mean i'm not opposed to eliminating faction from the bases, however a sizeable portion of your arguement deals with the camping of that area, which is not a problem, and the rest of the arguement deals with that they are getting an inordinate amount of faction doing this, which is not true. yes, the FP adds up, but any minor to massively sized group can get much, much more FP with superior tactics.

would it bother you if instead of camping the ISD they were 2.5km out wiping up on spawns and you still had to fight them every time? i don't see the difference.

Does the Rebel Space station have 100 weapons on it?

I'm a Rebel I do not know. I did The solo in an A-wing ISD gone bye bye thing last night for the first time! It was kind of fun but heres the rewards!

10,000 Prestege points

500 Rebel Faction

50 COA faction bonus

11,500 credits

The Star Destroyer Respawned 4 minutes later.

Ok, you know what. Even though I know excactly where to go now and what to do to take this guy out solo. It's still not exactly "easy" to do. the ISD is so big its easy to get disoriented, and you have to move fast or those 100 weapons got youcovered. If there was even 1 person Imp and overt in deep space, they could stop me from killing it (because i wouldn't be able to just sit in the blind spot)

Also, if they fix all the weak spots on the ISD. How ya gonna kill it?

even if they fix all the blind spots 10 players who know what they are doing could bring it down in seconds.

but really that is beside the point, if they remove the FP reward players will still camp it? why?

because no other place in the game can garner faction as quickly as the spawns in deep space, and where do the spawns originate from? the opposing faction bases.

it's set up this way for a reason. it's no coincidence i have 5x the PVP experience that many other players have, because i spend 100% of my time in space camping the spawns that come off the rebel base. anyone that spawns in that zone, i know about, and anyone who wants to play in DS has to go through me first. that's why on the loading screen it instructs you to destroy the opposing faction bases. it's entirely intentional. remove the FP reward from the base and players will just switch the the slightly harder, but more rewarding method of taking the spawns as the come off the base.

to me, the arguement primarily sounds like "there are always rebels around the ISD and i'm not able to get my grinding in."

it's a PVP zone though. i would KILL for rebels to do that on my server. i go up to DS to fight other players, not to grind FP.

taking 4 friends, all in bwings, and destroying an entire line of imperial gunboats takes less time than killing the star destroyer, and you get more fp, not to mention takes less people.

ditto, if imperials did this on my server, id be so happy.

complain that the rebel station gives no fp and has a slow respawn time, not about the isd

dont kill the isd by camping blind spots, just fly head on and kill each part. its incredibly easy in an Awing, the 100 weapons wont kill you if you are faster than 1k and have cap to shield.

i personaly would love to find rebels trying this on starsider. anyone i catch messing with my master's ISD is going to get a free ride home inside a box, compliments the empire.

on the other hand, when im farming it on bria its nice to snack on some pc tie pilots every now and then. kind of convinent that i can farm FP and camp their spawn at the same time.

Rebels on our server are camping the heck out of the ISD, seems about 10-11 of them go there and blow the ISD netting them 750 FP each, then the ISD respawns instantly and they blow it again. Average time of death for the ISD is about 3 minutes, that's 15k FP apiece an hour, or 150k total. Imps desiring to do something similar will find the rebel base blows, and stays gone until server reset or somebody blows the ISD. This is pretty much the same thing as the old rebel base "exploit" where you could kill it over and over again for cash. They need to fix the ISD the way they did the rebel station. If you blow the ISD, it's gone until the rebel station is blown, if you blow the rebel station, it's gone until the ISD is blown.

Sounds like a poor design, but luckily you cannot enter deep space covert (would be nice to have more than one damn spot). Camping the ISD is probably distracting, so go blow em up!

What you describe is players using a system exactly as it is designed. The ISD is designed to give FP and is designed to respawn quickly. To call it an exploit and thereby calling the Rebel Pilots exploiters sounds.... like a whine.

I believe there was a right way to bring a game imbalance to the attention of a Corro or a Dev and that this thread is not it.

just my opinion

Have to disagree with you here, rebels sitting there repeatedly destroying a target to farm FP at a rate that is approximately 3x the standard farm rate for imps (at least for me) borders on exploit behavior. As the Reb Station gives no FP, this is out of balance and gives Rebels willing to behave this way an UNFAIR advantage that the Imps have no way to counter. We can't get FP from Freedom Base, and even if we did, the spawn for Freedom Base has been corrected. It is out of balance, and the Rebel pilots in question are EXPLOITING that system to gain an unfair advantage (i.e an inordinate amount of FP). This seems to meet all the criteria of an exploit.

The rebel station may not give FP, but I believe every time I go to DS there are at least 10 rebel Corvettes, all with about 50% subsystems...ie mostly disbled. I KNOW they give faction, so go kill those if you want the faction. The whole reason for making the ISD and rebel station have blind spots is so they are kind of easy to destroy and thus mess up the NPC spawns. This does "force" players to go kill the other players, which is the intent of DS. Especially with the new GCW revamp, FP are super important. So the solution is for you to grab a few buddies and go waste the campers. I got money that says they are not good or experienced PvPers since they are probly so intent on killing the ISD, they will never see you coming. BLOW EM AWAY!!!!!! This is coming from a rebel mind you. Do what others have said, make them take the system back from you. Make yourself the top dog. If they like PvP, they will be back for more and you will all have a good time. If they are "hate tellers" then they likely wont come back. Don't know why anyone would go to DS and get upset cuz they got killed, theres no decay in DS. If an imp gets the jump on me in DS, its cuz I got lazy in my scanning and you better bet that I will be back for more in minutes. It takes like 2 min to get back to DS when you get destroyed, hardly an inconvenience.

again, GO BLOW EM AWAY

Random replies:

- Corvettes are not worth the time. roughly 100 FP, gunboats are 191 FP and go down much quicker.

- Unless you know of a WP where gunboats constantly spawns, i'll bet the ISD wins in efficiency when you look at FP over time. (no time spent traveling/hunting them down)

- One faction being able to do camp a static spawn for FP like the ISD and the other can't is bogus.

- This huge FP supply has a direct effect on the ground game if said points are used towards the purchasing of factional bases. More FP over a short period of time = lots of bases very quickly = your faction winning on the ground = cheaper faction perks.

Rapax all ships in deep space spawn off their respective bases. the amount of FP an organized team of players could make off the base spawns dwarfs anything obtained by repeated assaults on the ISD no matter the group's level of organization or skill. you don't have to spend time searching when you know exactly where every boat is going to spawn.

I do agree it's rediculous one faction can camp a base for FP while another can't, however the point is essentially moot as the group camping the ISD as opposed to milking it's spawns is essentially 'wasting' it's time. Imagine for a moment a 20 strong group of highly organized rebel pilots attacking a gunboat spawn off the ISD in formation. Each of those pilots, would obtain nearly 700 FP and be done with the spawn in likely under 10 seconds. when the spawn rate sped up?

20 players X 700 fp = 14000 fp in under 10 seconds for ONE spawn. this highly organized group could milk every spawn that came off the base. while slow at first, those spawns do speed up, and the amount of faction obtained in under a minute could be simply astronomical. making ISD runs seem really absurd.

it's for that reason that i don't particular care who get's 750FP per 3 or 4 minutes. it just seems like small potatoes. i get much more FP alone in deep space, just casually milking spawns off the rebel station.

one thing to think about for the rebel base though, i can blow it up in 5 passes. the ISD takes a bit more, so really i'm not too bent of shape that it gives a decidedly meager reward, despite the potential for repetitive farming of it.
