Vortex has got to be one of the most annoying squads to fly in. Took me forever to get past the second mission. I made it out with one half-effective blaster and nearly every other part trashed. If I wasn't flying a brand new Y-Wing Longprobe at the time I might not have survived. The other missions were easier though. IFF is a Rebel pilot's best friend.

I really like the Vortex missions, until this one that is.About a month ago,I just got tired of flying a Z-95and decided to try to make master pilot. Honestly I didn't expect it to be as easy as it was. I had no real difficulty with the missions until this one. Making it to this point in 8 hours and then being stuck here for the last month is really annoying.

Also with those Aggies, be sure and target Weapon 1. Once you take out his rear turret, he is weak sauce.

Well yeah. But you try taking out a Tier 5 Aggressor without overload programswhile flying a Y-Wing Longprobe with weapons that are still in the 2000 - 2500 range. It's not an easy task; I can assure you. The only good thing about that mission is that it made the others seem so much easier in comparison. Now if only I could take care of that lousy corvette.

I just ran this mission recently and I find the head to head strategy works best against the aggressor. The NPC ships are dumb and that back turret never misses. I was using an x-wing with WO3, WCO3, EO3 and Front Shield Adjust 2. If you are engaged with an NPC, and are the only one attacking, once you pass it and travel 800-1000 m out when you turn around they will always have thier nose pointed at you. This makes aggressors easy pickings, just go straight for them with reactor/engine selected slow down a bit when the sight comes up and blast away. Right as the aggressor goes to pass hit boosters and clear that rear gun, turn and do it again. If you can't disable it in 2 passes you need to upgrade your guns or use WO3. After that just come in the front and a bit to the side for an easy and safe kill shot. The remaining escorts are easily taken out after that or you can IFF and head to the next part.

Honestly, I did the last tier 4 mission, the 30 ties and the vette yesterday. Soloed all the way to ACE...Using the y-wing longprobe. I do love that ship. Of course it did help that I had the borstal and the incom reward guns RE'd and loaded, the reward shield RE'd and loaded, and a level 8 engine RE'd to 88 speed, 72YPR loaded...Plus programs...Guess it's not that impressive to dogfight Tier 5's with that loadout...funny, my mass was still around 160k...

To confirm what Maccajnr said - I'mhaving problems with Tier 5 droid ships doing the first tier 4 mission. They seem to spawn right at my wp so I usually get blown up very quickly

Then you definately need to improve your flying skills, I get hit only 20% of the time by the back turret.

But what kind of ship are you flying? A-Wings have a much better chance of dodging that turret than other ships do. I have to rotate all my shields to the front and blast away like there's no tommorow to destroy those things. On average, it manages to hit me about 50% of the time.

As I said in the post I linked above, Aggies are a matter of practice. I fly an Xwing, and have survived solo versus 4 tier4 aggies. In a given encounter, the only times they get me below 50% shield now is if I'm seriously lagged in a nebula.

I've been flying an A-Wing with level 6 & 7 equipment and level 3 programs (overload reactor, engine, cap, and weapon; plus shunt 3). Everything is doable. Last night I was out taking out gunboats solo. Any time an aggressor popped up, I would drop everything to take it out, even after I ran out of concussion 3's (they seem to always drop something). The big difference is my gun is about .26 refire and 2400 max damage. You can put a ton of firepower out with those and they are very craftable. I'm still waiting for a 'vette to see if I can solo it with my A-Wing!

Just finished that 2nd Tier4 mission, solo once again. Didn't have so much problem after all. X-Wing fitted with 3 weapons max 2500 dmg,and some small 1560 shields.

The mission is in two parts, as explained above. First part is an assasination of the inquisitor (or whatever he's called). He's in a Tier5 aggressor, protected by 6 or 7 Tier4. Don't bother about the Tier4 at all, just target the Tier5 weapon1, then its engine, then blow it off. From there, just IFFscramble to get out of the mess.

Part 2 was slightly harder in my view. Well it was longer anyway. A bunch of Tier 4 (between 8 or 10?) are up against rebel NPCs. So you have to help the NPCs to destroy all the Imps. Not much of a tactic here, just kill them all

Now back to some grinding... Another million exp needed

My last few comments on the Tier4 missions. I've finished the last two yesterday.

Mission 3 must have been the easiest of them all. Follow the guide above in the thread, and no problemo.

Mission 4 was not so easy. Again, follow the guide above.I didn't do the first part, as explained The second part was a bit tough. Up against at least 10 Tier4, including an Aggressor. Disabled weapon1 of the aggressor, then spin in a circle until the 4 minutes time span is reached.

Overall, I have to say that I couldn't have done these missions without my droid programs: CO4, WO3, CSS4, and a 15s droid interface.

Ship doesn't matter. If you're doing the default chase the turret will chew you up. Move a bit to any side, target aggressor, shoot twice and move to the side again, rinse and repeat till weapon 1 is down. Takes a bit longer but your shield stays in one piece. AI can't hit a freighter if it isn't coming straight at him.

If you've got a RE'd reward shield and good guns then you can take down Tier 5 Agressors with the default chase with shield dropping to 60 to 25%
