Thread: Deep Space Woes

Yeah. Deep Space needs to be fixed badly.

I loaded into DS about 3:20 pm PST to take the guns off the SD. But when I loaded in I was at 1-3 fps. It stayed that way for 40 minutes. I flew to the SD in that lag, was able to take out the shields, engine, and part of the reactor while the NPC's blasted away at the SD making ALL guns fire at once. Then Nesanya came in, was lagging but still managed to clear the rebel fighters off the SD. Didn't have to kill it at that point since hte lag cleared. But then later in the scheduled fight time the same thing happens and it had to be killed.

I share Nesanya's anger because things like this that were broken when the CU hit still has not been fixed. I hate it when people attack the SD at anytime. I've gone in and cleared teh guns on the SD only to watch as some twit comes in right after me and kills it. I'm like "W-T-F! I just took the guns off for a reason!"

As far as the spawns resetting, the only time right now that the SD should be attacked and space cleared is when NPC's are attacking it. Other then that my opinion is it should be off limits until it's fixed. Less lag then. And I hate pvp'ing when someone's attacking it. Nothing like dogfighting then watching your fps drop to 1 and then seeing your ship go boom.

And the people who think it's the computer need to slap themselves. This is server side, not client side. Only the super best computers are able to handle the lag. Notice everyone said they had 2 gigs of ram when they said I don't have a prob with it? Not everyone has 2 gigs.. or 1 gig.. i'm playing on 512. It hurts.

the bug report you file will sit on top of the close to 50 bug reports i filed on it. and the 50 more i asked other people to file months ago.

and nobody will read it. SOE doesn't read bug reports. sounds like i'm being cynical huh? nope, i'm serious. there's no category to file space bugs under in the bug report UI. there's no category to bug that bug either. they probably get thousands of bug reports a week, and 80% of them are probably idiotic stuff about people's jedi. so they either have 1 guy who sits there and sifts through the mountain of crap and sends each valid report off to where it should go, or they don't read them. i'll let you decide which one it is.

edit: maybe i should refrase that, the QA dept. doesn't read bug reports.

i'd say do it cause it'll make you feel better, but honestly the second you open the bug window and see there's no space category you'll just feel worse. it's better to just do a thread on it and hope when tomo posts it they actually read it.

I farm in Kessel...more fun...besides...I sometimes run into the odd Ace that's declared helping out some one finish of the exit missions for Ace...

that's nice, but it's annecdotal. when you actually spend a huge chunk of time in DS you'll see i'm right.

first of all, deep space doesn't stay "full" like that for long. maybe when you are there, but put 2 of me there and it gets crappy really fast. say you kill a gunboat, does it respawn off the station as a gunboat? no. it has a chance to respawn as a corvette, nova spawn or gunboat. eventually, since vette spawns take the most amount of time to kill, you'll be left with a zone full of vettes, this kills productivity.

I'm a little offended by this. Actually really offended. You have no idea how much time I spend in space - I just about live up there. I've camped DS for hours before either farming or hoping someone would show up to shoot at. In fact, I've been doing this for months on end.

Maybe you kill too slow to keep up with the spawn? Vettes aren't an issue, they drop faster than a trio of rebel gunboats. I prefer novas, better payout for the time it takes to kill. Either way, you're still missing the point of what I was trying to get at, and not worth arguing with at this time. I'm not complaining about rebels reseting the zone.

Regarding people's system specs - what we know from history is that the ISD didn't lag people out like it does now before they bugged it, which pretty well indicates a bug. Also, I've noticed the guns on the stern of the ISD cause the bad lag - when it's just the bow it doesn't seem to cause problems, or at least not on my system. It really depends on where the ISD gets hit and how many targets are out there.

I recently saw a corvette spawn go by the SD. Framerate was already at 15 from rendering the ISD, but the gun blasts didnt make a big difference when they were shooting outward. Then ISD shot through itselfFramerate=10 now. Then the rebels started to shoot at the ship.... framerate=1!! Shield flashes are probbably what kills my framerate the worst.

All im going to add, is , last night, the ISD was blown up.. im facing the other direction (to minimize the lag), i see little explosions all around, and then my system hard locks.

BLECH.

Oh ya, and DS is totally onesided. The only reason imperials have to go to DS, is to faction farm. There is no other DS objective for the imperial side of the house.
