Thread: I pvp in a RGI, I don't care what size the hitbox is

I am a bit torn apart on the issue.
For myself I will never use a ROTW ship for PvP. I think they are imbalanced and just broke whatever was left of JTL. However, since I now have no way of staying competative in PvP I will not go up against those ships either. These ships are in my opinion the main reason that Starsider space PvP is dying, full of arrogant idiots who suddenly crawl out of their hole to find their overpowered ships presented to them by SOE with an attitude for PvP that i do not want to take part in.
I will not blame you for using the ship as long as you realize that certain aspects of these ships are broken and need to be fixed. You in particular presented these issues on the forums which is a good thing. But please dont ask for my respect on kills in one of these ships as a trade-off ship like my a-wing is not competative.
By the way... I have fought royal guard ties with 3.8k shields, 2k armor, level 10 guns and level 8 engines. It is hopeless to fight these ships in PvP with the intention of playing a fair game yourself. I rather resign and keep up my ideals.

This is a rant thats going to make me very unpopular, but, much like other things, i really don't care anymore, and im really sick of the hate tells. So if your one of those whiners on bria, listen up.
I will always PvP in an RGI, and i REALLY I dont care what size the RGI hitbox is. I dont care if its as large as a KFC Chickenspray, or smaller then a pinpoint.
Do i know its really small and bugged? Yes i do thats obvious.
So why do i use it? Because :
1.) i can't fit at least a L7 blaster, MKIV shield and most importantly a L8 engine into a 50K mass T/I. If i could, id be owning you in a T/I instead of a RGI.
2.) ROTW fighters in my opinion have forced the part requirements of above mentioned number 1. If your going to stay with the technology curve you have to keep up. Everyone with a clue is strapping in L8 shields and/or engines. If you dont do the same, your handicapping yourself. Im sorry, but thats something im not willing to do.
3.) I like interceptors for PvP for many reasons. Because of point 1, my options are rather limited since i dont want to be just like everyone else and fly a JSF or b22. I didnt become an imperial pilot to fly the same ships everyone else and their cousins sisters brothers ex room mate in the game does regardless of profession. Wow, theres a novel observation, Rebs/imps and privateers are all flying the exact same ships now. weeee hows that for variety?
So, are you one of the people i killed over the last few days? Upset? Feel the need to send hate tells over it?
Know this.
True, the RG tie hibox is a bit skewed. But your inablity to hit me has NOTHING to do with that. Your ablity to do damage does, but NOT your ablity to hit me. If you score a hit on the chassis, but not the upper part of the ball (where the hitbox is), a hit will regester, but not do any damage becuse it didnt touch the acutal hitbox. This means that I know when ive been hit. I'll get that "SCCCHHHHH" sound and/or my shields will flash. Im guessing 3/4's of you bozo's cant hit me, small hitbox or no. Ive killed about 15 players in the last few days, and ive only been genuinly hit about 4 times. So cry all you want to make yourself feel better, i really dont care. My choices right now are limited to two ships. I either pull out my RGI and dance with you for a few mins, or pull out an oppressor and kill you on the first pass with the "I win" Tri IR2 salvo. Which would you rather have?
So, to my adoring fans on bria, If you gotta whine and send hate tells, send it to sony, not to me. Whining to me wont fix anything, and i really dont care either way. PvP has been borked from misc bugs and exploits a long freaking time, and well, did i mention i just dont care anymore?
So here's a virtual quarter, call someone who cares.
and no folks, don't toss that virtual quarter back, i already know that know one cares for this post. But, im tired, im feed up, im gonna vent, and ya know, im about done. Went around dropping bases on the ground today, and it was kinda fun. Nice diversion.

I have the perfect answer to you and your IG. It's me in my Nova with 3 IR II slots on it. I managed to take an RG out twice last night and he was carrying chaff
In fact I've killed quite a few RG's recently. if you know what to do, they are easy to kill

I hate ROTW fighters. Every one of them. Even the one im flying, but its alot closer to being unique then the other two ive come to hate so much. I'll unass my ROTW ship, then they unass theirs, plan and simple.
I tried fighting them with a pre ROTW ship. The only thing i can manage is an oppressor, and only against single targets. And that gets borign real quick.
Mass has never been an issue for me, until ROTW was launched. A 50K mass T/I is not enough.
That leaves me with the T/A. The T/A has one similar attribute with an A wing that keeps it viable, and that 65K is enough to fit in the now required L8 engine. However, the weaponspread on the chinmount guns SUCKS. (where as he A wing has a decent enough spread)
My aim isnt that good against a fast and small ROTW fighter. Shooting chinguns in pvp feels like trying to hit the eye of a needle with a needle. This is why i use an interceptor. quad pattern, better coverage, higher hit probabilty.
But again, T/I isnt enough now. That leaves me with the RGI. Its all about L8 sheilds and engines now since everyone is using a ship with enough mass to fit those in. Period. Nothing else goes.

Oh I hear and feel for ya Duc!
Your initial post however...it just sounded like the Southpark where Jimmy's in the Special Olympics and he starts using steroids, his excuse being 'Everyone's doing it, I'm just trying to compete.' (I watched that episode this morning and actually thought of this thread.)
I'm generally in my KSE in DS, I too hate the RotW ships with a passion, I've tried PvP'ing in my B-22, but to be honest, I'd rather die in my KSE than win by cheating.
/shrug
Needless to say I get a lot of time to perfect my whiny rhetoric while zoning back and forth from Deepspace.

Not pertaining to anyone in this thread or anyone in general. But I never could understand why people think that winning fairly is the same thing as cheating to win.

The heavy TIE has chin guns, 95k mass anda normal hitbox. You don't mention it in your posts. You could mount amissile launcher on itto take out the engines of small RotW stuff and have the L8 engines and gun for the other stuff. Would be a viable alternative to the RGI.
That said, A-wing was countered by triple imrec on the oppressor. RGI can be countered with missiles too, though us rebel/privateers don't have triple launcher ships other then the nova.

I say use whatever tool you can that is available to the general playerbase. ROTW ships, WO3, whatever........they're "broke" for everyone. No-one forces you to use them however.
Ask for them to be balanced sure, but don't stop playing or "boycott" space because of them. That just makes it look like no-one likes the space game.
I hear all this talk about how the pilot is the most important part of the ship. I'd like to think so. Take this as an opportunity to learn to be an even BETTER pilot than you are now.
If the WO3 "bug" ever gets fixed, I'll probably have to adjust my firing practices somewhat, and maybe change my weapon loadout.
Personally I don't see them nerfing the ROTW ships, DP has already said he would rather bring the other ships up to the mark rather than downgrade anything.
I personally think the Interceptor should have 2 gunmounts and about 70k mass.
...just some random thoughts that I wanted to share......your's to ignore or not
Edit -- this post did have better format and spacing until Lithium decided it was Illegal HTML and reformatted it.

I agree that if there is something broke and the dev's know it and everyone has an option to use it then it's not the same as an exploit.

the shield was 4.8k, not 3.8k.

OK kids, before anyone starts the BBQ pit for Rapax, lets just take a LOOOONG step back for a breath of perspective.
Before you chuck a stone in his direction, ask yourself the following:
1) Do you fly any ROTW ships, which the general concensus of this board agrees are universally borked because of balance issues?
2) Have you ever used WO3?
3) Ever used a zero mass component?
4) Equipped a component on your ship that could be described as "pre-nerf"? (Come on, you droid commandos with your old style level 1s, step up and be recognized)
If you answered yes to any of these questions, toss yourself on the barbie with him...

2) Till I got WO4. Then when I found out about WO3and went back to it.

I dont like chinguns for reasons ive already explained and a single missle launcher doesnt do jack.
Im not even up there because i want to be either. This is why i even bother:
They're going to want FP, quickly
This is the results of a pissing match on bria, just yesterday. And why i mentioned i was on the ground dropping bases, while in special forces status. Whole guild was Overt. Rebels however would not go overt, talk trash but dont back up the talk.
My guild summarlly went around and destroyed just about every PvE base on dantooine. Logistically speaking, iyou would expect people to go to replace those bases ASAP, and faction farming in space is one route to do that. It just makes sense. Since im the only serious pilot in my guild, the job for me is to stop them or put them in check.
Im not even doing it for fun, im doing it to help the guild in this pissing match and for no other reason. Ive already killed a few rebels who im told were part of the rival reb guild that started this whole pissing match out there grinding FP. Its a sort of war, and i get mean and ugly when that occurs. Im not a happy camper.
