We get new ships! How wonderful!
The ROTW havent been balanced and these new super POBS will either come out with greater manouverability than a JSF or less survivability in PvP than a Decimator.
Forgive me if I dont hold my breath in raptourous anticipation!

Just go out and get ROTW and get your own JSF...
Trust me the Land and Space quest make the $30 you spend well worth it...

People need to stop thinking everyone is going to have an ISD or MC-80. Gunboats and gunships are light capital-class ships.
I'd fathom probably the biggest ship allowable is going to be a frigate or one of those newer T-shaped cruisers from Kashyyykian space.
Maybe the Privateer cap ship will be the Dark Eclipse-class Cruisers seen in Dath space.
...needless to say, people need to chill the hell out.
I can already hear the goddamned "NERF THE YE-4" threads. "SEVEN TURRETS TO OUR THREE ISN'T FAIR!!!"

Agreed.
and about the last comment. Lets give everyone the same chassis, that has the same mas, same handling, all the same parts. all are exactly the same in every way. Then it'll be balanced, right? /rolleyes

Man, nice work, Joras and Geevo. Knew I liked you guys for a reason.
There's a surprising amount of info here, really, but I'll see if I can't pry a bit more out of them, along with making a few recommendations for how to pull this off. Oh, and if anyone's got any thoughts or suggestions on implementation, may as well make them here. Keep it constructive, though--we know some other ships have some balance problems. They're not the issue: this completely exciting news is.

I thought it was just plain Smuggler love
... who better to Smuggle info out than Smugglers? Only maybe a Bothan Spynet Operative as far as I can tell ![]()
(did edit one thing in my post to make it more accurate)
I cornered one Dev (not giving any names because I really like this Dev) and he wouldn't tell me anything. But the 2nd Dev is what gave me the answers ![]()

Tomo, I like the concept, however I think they need to bring POB ships up to better viability before adding anything more. and mebe squash all the current bugs in space? With the RoTW implimentation, I'm dubious of all the new problems this could introduce. Yes, my own vette would be cool, but I want it to be useful, not just something to get, play with for a day, then redeed 'cause it's not defendable.
Lastly, RoTW really shafted the shipwrights. I'm opposed to any more quest reward ships. Make them big, make them resource costly, and make them craftable.

Absolutely Awesome! Now all we need are space station guild halls!

Yay! More stuff us shipwrights can't make!
Serously though, it will be pretty cool to have these.

I'd rather have existing stuff working first. Yay, a capital ship! Does it work? It's SOE who knows.

first off, the cap ships should be pvp enabled by default
only one cap ship per guild. possibly make it so that you can build a PA hanger to keep it, so you would also need a city big enough to support it. if this was done then
dont make the turrets ai controlled, but i think that either all of the top turrets or the four clustered together should be controlled from the same station (you cant make it take more than 8 ppl to fully man the thing, or you cant all be in the same group). i would give it pilot and copilot seat, 2 upper turret stations, one lower turret station, and two stations for the turbolaser waist guns.
the player corvette needs to somehow be harder to kill than the npc version. if its going to take a full group of people to man one it should be able to handle a few fighters in pvp.
one way you could make it better is to add SW crafted cap ship parts (even bigger than the elite components). this would really make the SWs happy. you could even make it so that once a part is blown out in combat it has to be replaced.
to make this ship survivable you need to massivly increase the damage it deals per shot, or make the components much harder to destroy. i think we need a combination of both.
ohh and make the turbolasers on the waist (guns 6 and 7) usable. they should have an very slow (think 5 seconds)refire rate, but deal insane damage for taking down npc gunboats.
most importantly, these ships should be as powerful in pvp as a small group of fighters. give us a reason to fly them, doont make them useless like the POB ships we have now.

i like the capital ship being able to dock and fly away... however i do not want these ships to be player owned. I think best way to impliment it would be to have a space mission where you will have to go out to a certain sector and disable a vette. then you would have to dock and start to take over the ship by killing the NCP's on the vette and start repair all the systems. then go and repair it and you can go set off yourself. I would have the difficulty of the ship the same as the corvette mission. also only people who have the mission on this ship can attack it if it is not occupide by a Player team. And once one team starts to take it out then no one else can damage it or dock it. However you could have like 17 people on board taking it out via POB ship( i think it is 10 people. dont remeber) 8 people that are in a group with the person haveing the mission and 9 people that are in the POB hitching a ride. Once you completely taken over the vette all other people that had this mission gets a mission failed message and will have to go back to the quest giver NCP to get a mission for the vette that is now under the players controls.
You wouldn't need to take it back right away but you can take it for a joy ride first in Deep Space or something. However you would need to be carefull with this... since if someone has a mission on your corvette then you could be borded and have your ship taken over. and the opposeing team trying to take over your vette would ahve to kill all the people currently occupying the ship to take control of it and have to repair the systems. don't know how well this would work trying to take it over since you have the problem of cloning.
the max amount of corvettes that should be in space at a given time is 3... One for imperial pilots, One for Freelance pilots, One for Rebel pilots(master pilots of course). however any number of missions could be given out. and in order to get a vette that is currently occupied is that you need to take over a vette from the same faction memebers. Like only a freelance pilot can get a mission to obtain the freelance Vette. and so on. This is to keep it so that one faction doesn't have all the vettes under one control. And same deal as last part once a team starts attacking the vette it is locked out from anyone else trying to damage the ship.
This i believe would be a fun encounter. And would put Space and Ground PvP into one. And the most fought after Corvette imo would be the freelance corvette. Since it can be used for the imperial side or the rebel side giving that side an advantage on the battle field.
