Of course, it's a sliding scale - because the more "doitformes" there are, the more "doitformes" they'll create.

Case in point:

"Hey man, how'd you get Ace?"

"Oh, I just had some idiot pilot do my missions for me and do all the damage on targets so I got full xp."

"Oh cool - know any I could sponge off of?"

"Yeah sure, here are some names...."

"Could you help me, though?"

"Nah, I just Aced for the badge, jacket, and to make people THINK I could actually fly."

Apparently I've seen worse, ever read that thread about someone in Lowca paying 100K per tier for the pilot to grind for him?

I have taken a couple guildies up in an ARC-170 and flew around Lok and Endor and randomly shot at tier 3-4s while they work up tier 4 boxes.

My only rules are to have WO3 and keep up. I don't share loot, I don't share credits, and I sure as hell don't do missions (unless I like you/know you and know you're not using that relationship to make me a goddamned valet). If you're relying on my ass to mule your xp, you cede your rights to loot and credits. That's your penalty when you fly Air Breinhar - we don't have peanuts, and NO, you can't keep your can.

I only needed help twice on my grind, and that was in the first weeks of JTL. Why? Because I did duties and learned how to handle myself in a furball. Nowadays I see people in JSFs and Heavy X-Wings struggling to take out a single group of ten T4s...usually because they never did duties to figure out how to actually avoid fire or maneuver.

I will concur with the anti-ROTW pilots - I do think ROTW was the worst thing to ever happen to space, since everyone who didn't give two cents of a damn about it prior to ROTW got access to it and figured "oh well - might as well get another badge!"

So these people invade the profession and think we're all maids whose sworn job it is to lay out a goddamned red carpet for them from Novice to Master because MOST of them (usually the FWISH FWISH players, hint-freakin'-hint) feel they're entitled to that kind of treatment.

Cut to the new crop of "doitformes..."

"Duties take too long, can't you just wait until I get 10% damage in on this railrunning target?!?!?"

Waaah, waaaah, **edit**ing waaah. I'm getting tired of it.

NOTE: The above is not meant to target those of the "new class" that are actually pulling their own weight.

i think it is best to send a new player over to someone who is doing tier 4 duty misisons. that way they still have a chance of getting hit, and they still learn the basic idea of what it is to fly. the easest way to run it is the t4 player will dissable the ships and the low lvl player will finish them off. that way both parties get some bennifit.

I will help with missions, but they must already havetried the mission solo first and I will help with grinding "only" if theyhave already mastered anothersquadron. Not only does the grind help you learn how to fly, but it also teaches you mass maintenance on your ships as you slowly progress.

I'm one of those JSF pilots but I know how to hold my own. I did my entire final Tier 4 mission by myself with just CSS3 and the rest of my commands, no outsdie help (unless you consider /bstrike2 every 10 minutes outside help) and at times I had upwards of 8-10 Tier 4 ships armed with missiles pounding at me. I killed them all without even taking a hit to my armor.

But on topic, for guildies I will help them grind, and I keep all the loot and credits as payment. For people outside my guild, though, you're going to have to pay more than just 10K in credit chips and 14K in loot to get me to launch.

In the JSF? Really? How'd you manage not to get hit in that? I mean it's so huge and all...

Try that in a KSE against fifteen tier 5 fighters and a slightly poked vette, then come boast.

On topic, however, I don't see how hostile people seem to be towards beginners. I remember when I first got in my scyk, I fly around for five minutes, confused, then camped some tier 1 spawn for five minutes before getting blown up. I logged off afterwards utterly confused and dissapointed. You really do need someone to give you advice or a helping hand in the small tiers, or the learning curve can be too steep to stomach.

The "doitforme" types get a slap upside the head, however. There's a line on the type of people you should help and those you shouldn't. It's best to let them work for themselves, but giving them a taste of a more powerful ship helping them grind one box / one mission can give them the drive to go to master.

ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! All pilots should do their own dirty work. Only then they can become real pilots. Maybe we look like one but we weren't stupid when we did most missions solo. Getting a group for grinding is quite right, but getting someone to grind for you is absolutely wrong. Why? Becouse they can't learn the thrill of dodging the lasers of a Corvette/Gunship/Space Station while killing it slowly and effectively. I personally did all my missions myself except the Corvette (I was getting my first ace so didn't knew they were EASY). Now I can take on every type of space matter solo, INCLUDING the corvette and the Space Station. No auto-grind can do that.

Oh yes, my bad. Let me do it in my Decimator the next time so there's a big enough target not for you to be an a§§.

There's a big difference in helping a pilot and doing the work for them.

I have no problem with helping people, however, I will never let someone ride in my ship just to get xp.

When you don't have to work for something it has no value. All you'll end up with is master pilots who know next to nothing about being a pilot.

I run into this very thing with the entertainer professions that everyone afk's. I chose to master it completely at the keyboard so I know most of the ins and outs of the profession. I still run into masters that don't know some of the simplest things about the profession.

I personally prefer the backseat of my A-wing, but whatever floats your boat.

Ok that wasn't funny. Yeh, thats fine as long as you don't hold these new pilot's hands all the way through their career. Be constructive while you help them. Don't just give an easy 'afk grind' to anyone ...well short of 100000000 credits in payment up front

You're just hoping for some good-looking female. If, say, Stark asked to grind in the backseat of your A-wing, you'd be running fast and far.

I don't like grinding XP for anyone. It's something I hate doing on someone else's behalf, and it's not that hard for a pilot to do themselves. That being said, I've made exceptions, and I don't see it as unethical--I just see it as being detrimental to a pilot's growth.

Actually, I'm just content with the company of my A-wing tyvm

Grinding in an awing is not recommended. Your crew cheif would get mighty upset with you leaving moon prints on the canopy...
