I just finished Tier 3. Im in the inquisition squad and it was easy so far. I was able to solo all but Tier 3 Mission 2(had 2 Guildies as wingmen there). Even the last Mission where you have to kill the Rebel Gunboat wasa JOKE. I just sent a Bomber Strike in and watched it kill the Gunboat. The Boat didnt even kill one of the Bombers and i just stayed out of its turret range while killing his Wingmen.

Most of my Guildies took Tatooine as imperial pilot start and they said their missions were MUCH harder. So much to balance...

How did you do the Tier 2 final mission? I can't seem to take out that Lambda without it chewing me to bits first.

jaqknife I don't think anyone disputes that storm squad gets the shaft at least as badly if not worse than the rest of us.

Fixing lag isn't always a simple thing because its not always Sony's end. Sony controls what happens where they connect to the net, but everything from that point to your machine and back is out of their hands.

It wouldnt be so bad if this mission came after we got the tie bomber.

First tier 3 mission for black epsilon, no problem. Second mission. Well...

I haven't finished it (5 full attempts so far, 5 failures). Seems to take about 2 hours.

Start off capturing a tier 3 thing, kill some trash tier 3's no problem. Escort it around a bit~45 mins against some tier 3 stuff no biggie (about 40 npc's total). Fly to a WP, get attacked by some tier 3 stuff and a couple of tier 4 Z-95's not all that challenging (about 15 npcs total), takes maybe 5-10 minutes. Link up with your tier 3 thing you captured again, and escort it, again for another 45 mins or so. This time against 3 tier three x-wings and 1 tier 4 z-95(againt about 35-40 npcs I think). Then comes the hard part. To to a WP. There are 8 tier four nyms guys in x-wings and z-95's, and 4 tier 4 hutt fighters. Kill the nyms guys, don't die, don't kill the hutt fighters (don't let them die either). Oh and the hutt fighters will attack you. Somewhere in this part I die, if that isn't the end of the mission I don't know what is. So far each attempt has earned me about 100k xp though, which I guess is good.

You'll want help at the very least for the last part, and probably for more of it than that. Thus far I haven't been able to find anyone willing to help me for the 1.5 -2 hours it takes and the last bit spawns no matter how far away you are, so you have to have help jump in right away, which I haven't been able to get people to do. Good luck!

Inquisition seems 'easier' at this stage but I know in 4th tier its pretty tough too (I did inquisition in beta).

when the last fight starts between the nyms and hutts stop at about 2km out and wait for em to engage each eother. then start closing to about 1.5km and wait till all are fully engaged then go after the nym that is farthest from the main pack and you can easily take em out one at a time. its actually quit a bit easier than dealing witht he escort fighters once you do that

its epsilon mission 3 that is a tad hard... you gotta kill a ykr that can travel at 700 and hits for like 400 a shot... its guarded by about 6 tier3 but the ykr is in the middle and you cant pull it or the other ships away from it. so you get pounded by the ykr period. once its in range your pretty much doomed. need friends to mass attack it preferably with space bombs.

These are a complete joke...

How can anyone get past them?!

Throwing wave after wave of tier 3 fighters...and missions strung along one after the other!?

How can anyone take 5 tier 3 Y-wing (throwing missiles every which way), 5 tier 3 A-wings, and 5 tier 3 X-wings on at once!?

On top of that...once you destroy one squadron...another comes in its place...

What's goin on in the Devs' minds!?

mmm tier 3 vessels are not that hard,

The problem is the random tier 4 that get thrown at you or that you run into or the crashes...

I wish I could get that far, I'm 1 2 1 1 in pilot and I'm with the imperial inquisition, I've been doing the same mission for over 24 hours now and I still can't beat it. I can take out all the X and Y wings no problem but the ship I am supposed to capture (by taking out it's engines) eats through my shields in seconds and NEVER misses, the mission is impossible, looks like I will have to get a friend to help me just to beat it.

I suppose thatI didn't get any Tier 4's in...but having all of those ships taking pot-shots at you...while you're trying to take out one ship...is tough at times. Especially with 2-3 missiles hitting you every 5 or so seconds. I lasted about 15 minutes...but they kept coming.

This mission is pretty early and is easy after someone gave me a tip when I had a similiar mission in Beta.

My mission was for Storm Squadron (Empire, Bestine), with a very, very similiar situation like yours. I was supposed to get to a Nym YT-1300, disable it for capture and to rescue an Imperial agent from there. It had X-Wing escorts which I was supposed to destroy (they were easy).

The trick was this: The YT-1300 in this mission (or Lambda shuttle in your case) strictly flies a flight plan/waypoints. It does not maneuver other than changing to a new waypoint. Also, the defenses only work on the UPPER HALF of the YT-1300 / Lambda Shuttle. What you need to do is, approach the target from BELOW, target the engines, and blast away. While you're doing this, if you're getting too close or starting to get to a horizontal level with the target, turn around to set yourself up with another attack run from the ventral side (below). Ions make the work much quicker.

There's another mission for Storm Squadron that I remember from Beta: Destroying the Kimogilia's Claw, another YT-1300. The big problem is that thing "rotates" and the guns can face you regardless of what angle you're using. There is another brutal trick to this, although you will still be hurting at the end:

- Equip Ions and a Space Bomb Launcher (3 max, IIRC).

- I bypassed the Fighter Escorts to deal with them later. Once you attack the escorts, the Kimo's Claw will start blasting you to good effect.

- I approached the target from below, slowly, and acquiring my Space Bomb lock. Once I get the lock and I'm at CLOSE RANGE, release the bomb and start blasting away with your Ions, aiming for the reactor first! Whatever you do, STAY CLOSE AND DO NOT MOVE AWAY FROM THE YT-1300. KEEP BLASTING AND RELEASING BOMBS! DO NOT FACE AWAY FOR ANOTHER RUN, JUST KEEP BLASTING!

What this does is this: The Kimogilia's Claw will rotate to move away the shield being attacked (top/bottom). Keep hitting it from the same direction forces it to rotate continuously to protect the attacked shield. Also, remember this: The YT-1300 ony has a turret at the TOP SIDE. So, if the ship constantly rotates, it can only attack you 1/2 the time possible!

By the end of killing off the Kimogilia's Claw, I was really hurting. My shields were down, my hull was 3/4 destroyed on the front armor. Engines were damaged. Space Bombs were all used. Thankfully my Capacitors and Ions still worked. With a little bit of fancy, limped flying, I took out the remaining Nym fighter escorts.

Good luck, Pilot, and serve the Emperor well!

No, this changed. Kimo's claw (and the other ships with defenses) no longer have big blind spots. On the Kimo's Claw, I went into it expecting to be able to go from beneath, only to find it had turrets on both sides. A helpful note: targeting weapon0 and taking it out, kills both turrets. Taking the reactor out is much the same.
Application of missiles during your attack run is also a really good idea. Another thing that has worked well for me is to get close enough for the escorts to attack (you can see this happen), get some distance from the 'big ship', boost past the escorts for an attack on the big ship with only it hitting you. all firepower on just one shield, missiles as they become available, and make sure you keep the 'disable' target actually selected (I noticed last night that any time someone would shoot me, I'd go from targeting the reactor to targeting the general ship. Actually cost me a mission once since I had eweapon on and didn't notice the change until I'd already vaporized the to-be-disabled target).

Another extremely important tip (I explained this in detail in the other thread on Storm Squadron's tier3 missions): A new wave WILL NOT SPAWN if at least one fighter from the two prior waves is still up. If you disable them, they'll eventually die (and trigger the new wave if they were the last ship from one of the prior waves). If you mangle them thoroughly (like engines AND reactor to 4%, and other systems chewed up) they aren't 'disabled', but are more or less out of the fight... but still around indefinitely unless picked off by an NPC. Since they don't die, no new wave.

I'll have to try this out in future missions since I'm only a TIE Pilot 1211 right now. In Beta, I either destroyed or disabled (0%) the fighters. Leaving them at a low % sounds like a neat idea.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to try disabling and moving around. I suppose my weakness is staying on the same fighter until it is destroyed.
