Why in the heck does a Tier 3 X-Wing (that you KNOW can do 800 speed otherwise) only cruise along at frickin 125 speed when you're escorting it!?

I feel sorry for the NPC's that drive those clunky things. 
It's a wonder anything ever gets delivered at those speeds....
