I think that if I could pick one change to space flight, it would be the fact that it takes me like 2 minutes to pilot my way over to the SS, whereas Luke Skywalker speaks, in the books, of zipping at near-lightspeed around a planet and using its gravity to slingshot his ship at an enemy.
I think that a very good way to make the pilot profession more enjoyable would be to boost the speed and roll/yaw/pitch rates of the ships, say, fivefold. This would make dogfights more exciting and would make it possible to outrun/maneuvre missiles, which are currently a lot more sluggish than they should be. Missiles should be just a bit faster than their target so that the target can jet off towards an asteroid belt, maybe boosting a bit, to keep the missile away from his ship until he could trick it into detonating on an asteroid. However, the target would not be able to outrun missiles entirely. This would be pretty cool, and I think that this is exactly what the profession needs.
The need for top-notch reflexes would also, ultimately, weed out the less adaptable pilots, and would eventually create more legacies. Legacies kick ass. Their's nothing better than the feeling of someone seeing you and complementing you on your performance in a battle. This change would also make a pilot's power rely less on their equipment and more on their personal skill and intelligence.

Your suggestion makes my arm hurt... PvP is draining as it is... come to lowca and find out.

Play the game or don't it is what it is and will never be what it was for better or worse. I intend to play the game as long as it is fun, that does not make me a fan boy of brown noser. I know the game has it's flaws, but it serves no purpose to dwell in the past.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet. If you find you ship unresponsive, get an engine with better PYR and use an engine overload droid program.

Or make it to Ace, PvP frequently, and then dictate how the game should be changed.

But a new engine isn't a bad idea either.

chasing tier-5 a wing's in deep space, in a jedi starfighter at 900-1000ish speeds is just about as faced paced as i can get.

as you get closer and closer to master pilot the NPC's you fight also become faster.

The simple truth of the matter, is saying faster is better when you haven't fully exposed yourself to the game is sillystupid. PvP is much faster than PvE, and there are many technical reasons the game cannot get much faster than it is presently. Admittedly, the PvE experience is lacking, you're not incorrect when you say that. However your solution is poorly thought out and uninformed.

Check out this thread for some better thought out ideas.

That would be cool, but one of the problems is the size of the space sector. They're really tiny, so there isn't room for realistic physics, we'd hit the walls all the time. And making the sectors bigger would really increase lag....

I agree completely!!!I would love to attempt to shoot down a JSF moving five times faster than they do now (joking my arm would become paralized). If that is the type of combat you want, load up tie fighter and then increase the time lapse to 10X. And yesI used to play it like that lol.

Thanks, a lot of people (the ones with even less of a social life then me) seem to take things a little to seriously here, and have a very little grasp of basic humour such as sarcasm and irony, so I thought a little disclaimer would be a good idea. Then i jazzed it up a bit. Sure beats the hell oout of the thousands of sigs with lightsabers in them!

I came off training on Alliance right before JTL came out and, yes, JTL is*much* slower than the past Star Wars games.

Its called a learning curve.

It starts off slow and gets faster as you approach Ace.

I just finished my 6th Ace awhile ago with Inquisition Squad. I actually ran out of time during the final big mission (pre-Kessel). You try strafing 2 t4 gunboats + 8 Missle Shooting mixed privateer ships in a ship without 2 or more guns.

PvE is not slow, its just that people don't bother with the original ships and jump straight to the ones that have follow the path of least resistance.

What JtL does need is new content.

I couldn't disagree more with your idea.

If anything, the only thing that needs to be sped up are the slow-ass ships we have to escort!

Get yourself in a nice turn fight in DS and you'll change your mind REAL quick

Happy Hunting.
