I solo'd this mission tonight, by using the not-quite-disabled method. Worked a treat, right up to the point where the Awings spawn.

Then I used the method I said above (aka the Run-Like-Hell method) and outran the Awings to the spawn point. Only had to use one C2SS command when I was docked.

I tried this tactic with my char on another server (draw the first wave away then hyperjump and return) and needed just 5 mins for this part of the mission.

I just did that mission yesterday and that's exactly how I finished it.

for the first part of the mission i just used the follow command. and suppriseingly the ship you follow dosnt die
