Btw, its Kimo not Kima. Comes from Kimogila the big ugly lizard on Lok, not the Kima, that ugly little rabbit from Talus.
About the wingtip guns:
you only have to hit with 1 of the 2 beams to make the full damage of the gun, so a wider spread gun increases the range you can hit your target actually.

Kimas are felines thank you very much! And they rock! Ugly they may be, but they pack all the butt kicking power of a razor cat into the frame of an innocent looking jax sized death-kitten.

I agree with everyone else, and will even go a step farther, the Dunelizard is the best fighter in any proffession starting out. The rebs don't get anything good until the X-wing (the Y-wing is a dog until you can put some high quality stuff in it), and the dunelizard is better than anything the imperials get until the Tie advanced. Although I do like my like Tie Interceptor
