gunboats are the most Bang for the Buck when it comes to FP. Those are my target of choice in Kessel, I mean, yeah it's a drag to kill the gunships and wait 2 hours, but at least you know the timer at that point.
Isn't it 90 minutes from the time you kill the second one? That's been my experience.

I've had the vette group pop up within 30 minutes of blowing up the last gunboat before. We waited for 3 hours before I decided to go check the exit.

It has been speculated that blowing up the Rebel Space Station would cause the rebel vette to spawn in Kessel. Impossible to test currently, of course.
There are certainly enough reported circumstances of the vette appearing prematurely, or multiple vettes of the same faction being in system simultaneously, to indicate that some factor or combination of factors can force either vette into existence at an unexpected time. It'd be awfully nice to know how to make it happen.

yeah, they vary, 90 minutes is the rule of thumb. I've had days with 2-3 of each vette there at the same time, and otherdays where the gunships were dead, and the vette didn't respawn for more than 3 hours, but did spawn. On the other hand, getting 24K FP while waiting wasn't too bad

I love blowing up Gunboats
I find it funny that I get 250 FP for a Gunboat but only 96 for the Vette....

Silly people, strip off the fighters, blow up the gunboats and the vette is all there to be destroyed at lesiure.
I've also gotten some pretty nice loot items off gunboats.
Frankly it's amazing how many people can't deal with shooting a gunboat from ~535m away and doing match speed

Sticky this and FAQ it.
It's the most irritating thing a pilot has to come up against.
It would be simpler though if the devs just made the gunboats jump out when they reach the exit point, I mean, what imperial navy captain in his right mind is gonna go through this scenario...
XO: "Sir, long range scan reports the corvette we are escorting has been destroyed"
Captain: "Okay, lets just head to the designated co-ordinates on our own as ordered"
XO: "What if the rebels follow us sir?, shouldnt we turn back and anihilate them? it's only one guy in a a-wing, we could own his a$$ with a couple of shots from the rear gunner if you'd just let us turn round a little"
Captain: "No I have my orders from the emporer himself we should continue, in a straight line, until we reach our destination"
XO: "Very good sir, and when we reach that sector we should jump back to the fleet for de-briefing?"
Captain: "No lets just spin the ship 360 degrees in the middle of space"
XO: "Is that wise sir? the rebels could return and destroy us"
Captain: "Hmm.. no we should be okay, they'll never suspect two imperial gunboat captains could be stupid enough to circle 360 degrees in the middle of space, it'll be the last thing they expect...oh and make sure the other gunboat keeps bumping into us all the time, It's standard imperial procedure after all"

That reminds me of the first time I tried the 'vette in JTL beta. The whole group was banging into the edge of the sector near the end point. Evidiently they didn't leap out then, and another wouldn't spawn until that group was destroyed.
Needless to say I didn't have much success trying to solo it when they were all bumping around against each other like that. ![]()

Lets not forget:
Helmsman: Uh, Captain, would it be alright if I altered course a bit? It's getting a little hot in here...
Captain: Negative corporal, we have our navigation orders.
Helmsman: But sir, we've been flying with our nose up the ass of this vette for an hour now, and the chin gunner just burst into flames...
Captain: We all have to make sacrifices for the cause, son...
