1st person, cockpit on. I like to actually feel like I'm in my ships. I will sometimes scroll back and just look at them, though. It's fun to watch the wings open and close on my JSF.

Third Person - I like being able to see what's around me.

Turn the cockpit off and try it in 1st person. Way better than 3rd person in my opinion.

That's what I'd recommend.

3rd person. So much easier to dodge laser fire in pvp that way because you can see where your ship is heading better.

Plus I like staring at my ship's ass..

Nothing beats a TIE in first person (cockpit on) for that true Star Wars feeling

I love it in first person with the cockpit on. Makes it feel like I'm actually in there.

I take it you have never flown a Y-Wing. The inside of the cockpit is like looking at abrick wall with a few bricks removed so you can see out. It isn't even a pretty wall.

Yea but then you're getting beat down because you can't see anything from inside the cockpit. If I can't see which way my target in turning and rolling I sure as heck can't anticipate where I have to be to get on his six to send him to the incinerater.

Cockpit off, 1st person. 3rd person if I need that extra little peripheral vision.

Don't forget that the targeting system is design to let you know what direction your target is in relationship to your star ship.

If I can't see my target then I watch the red box shape that will be on the edge of your screen....either the bottom, top or sides. If its on the bottom or top your target is behind you either above or below you. If its on the sides then they are behind you on the left or right sides.

Don't forget to use your throttle. Slow down and let the target get ahead of you (or close - watch the target distance in the top right of your screen to judge distance from your ship) then speed up and fall in behind them. If you are a bit slower than their shipthen use boosters to get closer behind them. Then slow down a bit and line them up in your crosshairs.Theymay befarther outthan your use to but if you lead them enough then you will usually hit them in the front shields which are usually weaker. I take more ships out by destroying the front shields than i do the back. Unless I'm flying my dune lizard. Its pretty fast and can keep up with most tier 3 ships. Then I just wear out their behinds and they never get a chance to shoot me. If I'm in my kimogila then I have to line shots up ahead of them because it is not as agile as my lizzy. But I can still take them out easy at about 150-300 m.

So give these tips a shot from 1st person and see how you do.

The Bel-22's issue is flying with the cockpit on in 1st person. As for peripheral vision, even in first person...you can use Num-Lock to always have an eye on the target.

!!!!

Are you serious!? God, I've been wishing this game had that feature, but couldn't find anywhere that said it did!

In most ships I fly First Person with cockpit Off. In my JSF I fly first person with cockpit On.

To me most cockpit graphics are to "in the way" of seeing the combat and being able to see my target window and radar. I do like the JSF one though. All cockpit grahpics really need a "spot" to put target windows and radar so they arent obstructed by cockpit graphics.
