A couple guildies and I took up a YT after we outfitted it with the new POB parts. AMAZING in PvE. It was a blast. These things are fortresses now, and pack a huge punch with the new guns. We even did some PvP in deepspace. We had a 3 person crew and went up against 2 interceptors and a jsf. We did pretty good. Tracking 3 ships is difficult, also I'm pretty new to POBs. It was a lot of fun anyway. We were able to soak 10-15 shots and a couple missiles. Our shield was 9756 f/b with a 6.6k energy cap after overload. Add 7880 armor plates and we were a load to take out. The new guns are deadly too, insane dmg and refire. I can't recall the exact stats but it was something like 3298-5675 with a .250 refire and .54 vs shield/armor. The new engines are nice, but they give the small engine visuals on a YT which isn't what I would've preferred. Nice stats though, 132.0 spd, 71.4 P/Y and 69.3 R. Booster was 69.3 speed, 1778 energy, 158? consumption, and 58? acceleration. We were able to get the YT up to 2032 speed I think. POBs are gonna be much more desirable now. Especially to PvE. With practice and an experienced crew, POB might become a desirable PvP choice also.

I was quite skeptical of the stat increase really making the POB's a pvp threat. To tell you the truth we had a blast in my decimator last night. I spent the afternoon on a MSW alt and made all new toys for it and we went up with 4 people. We had a blast! PvE is a peice of cake- but still very fun, PVP was far more difficult but we scored several kills- and even lived through 3-4 shot attacks! What a blast. My favorite run was agaist a b-wing- he lit us up with all his blasters, but ate 3 image rec's in the face ftl.

I giv'm props on the POB buff- lotsa fun.

If ya ask me the Y-8 is a PoB killer and the other PoBs are fighter killers.

The y-8 has big blind spots in the midle area from top down, however the 3-4 forward facing guns make it a doom bringer for direct firepower on another PoB ship.

However since the other ships have next to no blins spot they are perfict for taking out fighters, however lack having the single forward target damage of the y-8.

Just my thoughts

I hear that, 2mill for a new Capacitor, and 1.5mill+ for new sheilds. /Sigh

Other than high cost, are these parts easy to identify on the vendor search, without having to look at the details? Or am I still gonna have to look at the iduvidual stats for each one?

The only reason I'm asking is that to have to look at the details on each part I may be interested in add sooooo much time to shopping around....

New stuff certainly makes a big difference in pve,how ever one pass from a heavy X took us out last night in DS.had my YT fully kitted out with all new parts.I reckon they are "there" where pre ROTW ships are concerned but anything that can point 3 pilot controlled weapons at your POB will win more times than not. With some fighter cover they will make a good group anchor but they are well short of being a pvp tank within JTL as it stands at the minute, and who wants to use a fully crewed POB to run a tier 3 escort mission for a friend.

LOVED IT, i took my y8 up with a almost full crew, all guns manned at least and had a friggin blast in deep space, this ship is a tank we sat in a hail of fire from 3 bunboats and a full figher escort and tore them up at one point they did chew throught the rear 10k sheilds but i was running ss4 on it so we survived just fine to continue the battle.

i do have a couple of questions though, firstly after an hour in deeps space and a few static spawn in regular space prior to that to break her in a bit b4 the tough stuff, i would normally have a a full inventory of looted parts(especailly at the rate we were wipingout the blackscale spawn in kash space).is space bugged atm or is it just this ship that for some reason is recieveing no loot or credits for kills, the xp for my crew flew throught the roof though so at least that is working.

second question is did they change the targeting system for turrets it seems like the hit ratio had gone way up?

I think you can't loot from the Y8

Legend!

But to get on track, I'll be posting my video soon concerning the ghrag t5 duty mission. Now publish 24 is released the final stage can take place...POB ships vs lots of t5 ghrag gunboats with the 'kiting' tactic made illegal.

I think that'll be a fair test as to seehow trivialised pve ina POB is.

i took a 2 man crew up to deep space in my yt1300 with full elite components and we were able to kill the star destroyer with hit and run passes. the only reason we had to back off was for me to get into the ops chair and hit shield shunt, otherwise we could have parked ontop of it and fire at will.we also killed a y8 mining ship coming at us very quickly. using rail guns the damage was exceptional and we could stand up to almost anything shooting at us while slowly maintaining shields and constant firing. top speed with the 73.6 73.4 68 pyr engine was 130which came to 1462 with engine overload 4 and 1944 with the booster. reactor overload 3 is still needed, but not 4.

pvp was still disappointing but still quite an improvement. the one ship that came at us hit us 4 times and kocked out rear shields and armor and brought the capacitor down to 56%. i know from experience that we wouldn't have been as lucky against a jsf that moves too fast and is too small to hit for even maneuverable medium fighters but with one or more improvements(shiled toughness against light fighters, add more range to turrets, missle tubes in turret slots, or make turrets hold orientation relative to the world instead of the ship when the ship moves) it would be a fair fight.

the only problem that i have noticed is that when the elite booster clears and reaches the base engine speed you automatically hit 0 speed, so boosters actually stop you. this happens in my y8 and decimator as well. with the slow acceleration of the pob ships now using a booster actually makes you move slower on average than if you never hit the button.

anyways... much love to the devs. i liked this patch.

sorry not trying to flame you in this constructivethread but just wondering are you already calling for nerfs on the best thing to come to jtl since it came out? just wondering

I'm not calling for nerfs. Not flaming you either but can you read?

You havnt been following my little project of doing what is one of the hardest missions in the game in as difficult a way as possible. (which is ok, but I kind of assumed most people knew about it because I talk about it often enough). Basically though, the tier 5 ghrag duty mission is hard enough in agroup ofstarfighters, let alone a POB so thats why it'll be a good test.

Prior to Pub-24, doing this misison in a POB would be next to impossible so I've been eagerly WAITING for pub-24 so I can continue the project in POB ships. Now they've had the most righteous tripling of their component stats, it means that my group and I can take this mission on to the extent of the full 5 Ghrag gunboat wave finale and film it.

What was I calling for nerf on? Kiting is a tactic btw, where you lead away an NPC (because they're not very smart) while others blast it safely from behind. During this mission, I will be banning this tactic as I wish to see the full extent as to which POBs can be used because I liek to experiment.

The experiment being 'Ok, so how good are POBs in 'difficult' PvE post pub-24'

You've confused me as you make no sense and really didn't read my post clearly. Also, if you care to read some of my other posts you'll notice I never call for nerfs, even on ships like the JSF. Please, adjust your unjust oppinion...now.

sorry my bad i was unaware of your experiments and the way your post was phrased it sounded like you thought the pobs were unbalanced already and were trying to prove a point about it, pls accept my apology

Chazzbaas. No worries mate. It's cool. I just get a bit edgy when people misunderstand me. I agree actually, I did phrase that post rather inelegantly.
