yeah I actually snicker when I seem them, usally it tells me that pilot is a sole pve'er. I never use my firespray because everytime I'm in space i'm overt. The KSE is a barn, you'd have to be blind to miss one in a battle.

There are better ships for PvE too, but the KSE more than does the job, in most cases.

what are the best (smallest?) high teir ships? Im restarting piloting, but cant decide between Imp or Freelancer (soley for having fun with the Dec with friends), I will probably end up with a KSE/Dec as my final 2 ships, unless you guys have other input.

The best for PVE would be the TIER 4 Nuet ship, and for Ace the Krayt. These have far more firepower then the Firespray and therefore far more effective PVE machines.

I have a really nice high mass KSE, keep it in deed form. If your Freelance anyone of your ships is better. KSE is a waste of credits. But if you want to pay millions for a "Look what I have ship" then by all means do it. Anyone who says its the best for pve hasn't spent very much time flying.

I love mine, but it's more of a status symbol than anything. I prefer the Krayt for actual combat, though the KSE does hold its own in PvE. Never tried it in PvP, and now I think I'll probably stick to my Eta-22 for that.
I don't regret buying the Firespray at all, though.

You're cutting yourself very short, here. If you've even come close to mastering pilot without droid programs, I salute you. A very nice guide to using them can be found here:

Hehe. I've been a master pilot for quite awhile now, and i still dont know how to use droid programs. I only started to think about it when a fellow guild member was asking me what programs i use and i said "programs?! droids?!". Hence why i have paid a visit to this forum today.
Thanks for that link, hopefully i'll be wised up on what it all means. hehehe

On the Imperial side:
Eta-Actis II Jedi Starfighter: Just took mine through Kessel for kicks..and well..what a blast! Turns on a dime and keeps up with those tricky A-wings; nice mass for a ship its size, with a decent hardpoint capacity (2 guns, 2 missile) and excellent YPR. A definite must fly if you haven't.
TIE Advanced: With the right components and programs, the TIE Advanced is awesome in PvP. Handles well, has decent mass, and a good hardpoint configuration (can't remember off the top of my head). I didn't use mine for PvP except one time, and it held up pretty well against the more nimble A-wing.
TIE Oppressor: Not really a small ship pre se, but this is the motherlode of Imperial TIE technology. High mass (for a TIE, 2nd behind the Bomber), decent handling, plenty of hardpoints and tough as nails. This is the ship I fly most often (since it's hard to find a full crew for the Decimator). I absolutely love this ship, and it hasn't made my decision to go Imperial seem like a bad one.
TIE Interceptor: See above for TIE Advanced. Basically the same, but with about 25k less mass than the Advanced. Still flies like a dream for the level certification.
Not sure about the newer TIE models they have (Royal Guard Interceptor and the TIE/In Heavy), as I haven't finished the RG quest yet (Corvette and escorts) and I'm not sure how to get the other.
As for the mention of programs, these are the ones I use most frequently:
Reactor Overload 3
Weapon Overload 3
Engine Overload 3
Weapon Capacitor Overload 3
I have Cap To Shield Shunt and a couple of Shield's Heavy (front/rear) but I don't use them much. As for 'specials' I still think Imperials get very decent ones except for Nova Blast (worthless). Bomberstrike is a godsend against Corvette's..assuming you don't get a command failed (like I did 3 times during the RG Interceptor mission).

Well it is faster and turns better then a oppressor, and hass really high mass, which can make it a tank. But for PVP, it would seem, agility is key to staying out of a lock. There is not a ship AI made you cannot own with it, but in PVP, a Awing or JSF will have a field day with you. Give an example. I flew into the rebel space Station in DS the other night, unloaded all my proton 4's, and only damaged one turret down to 80%. Then I was dead. Did the same (same engine by the way) and used a JSF for the strike. ONe Proton 4, two trips to reload, same damage, but they couldn't touch me. YPR on the engine is all 70+ and speed of 78, seriously sick little motor. But as a tank with support in PVP is great, solo in PVP there are a lot better options. Does have the coolness factor, and that fact as an ACE, you earned it. I like it for PVE and Mining. Two Mark III mining lasers can beat thecrap out of almost any Bandit.
