I'm against the idea, personally.

As it is now, crafted engines have thier place as the fastest engines, and the easiest to find when you're trying to outfit your ship. RE'd engines are more high performance, but are challenging to put together to be better than a crafted engine. Both engines require skill and good resources to build, and both require a shipwright, the best is the hardest to get, while the easiest to get parts are still valuable. As far as I'm concerned this system is balanced and working just fine.

Nevertheless, shipwrights should be able to compete with looted engines. Although speed is where it should be, PYR is a core stat and should be treated accordingly. Any core stat should beable to be improved at the expense of another. Balanced = good in the eyes of the favored. The crappy drop rates of engines with a good turn stat only favors the elite class of those who have the time to farm for the engine every night and those who can afford to pay millions. THAT IS NOT BALANCE. What you call balance is you keeping your uberness. I've been a master pilot for quite awhile now, and I still have yet to find a full RE set for a L8 engine RE project. The fact that the fastest L8 drops on gound is totally against the way that the pilot profession works.

My theme is that crafted should be able to compete with loot. Apparently, people still haven't accepted that.

We must continue the good fight, even if they continually gank us with crappy crafted items.

The only way that whay you say makes sense is if you believe that crafted engines are worthless, and fortunatly for us that is not the case. There are many different players in this game with many different playstyles, and a variety of ships to suit them. No two people make their ships exactly alike, and I know the community here likes that idea. "Uberness" is a matter of opinion, as I've seen people sell great RE'd engines just because they were'nt fast enough, or passed up an RE'd part because they just didn't need the lower mass at the expense of less speed.

As it is I use plenty of crafted engines in my ships, and I use plenty of RE'd engines, and I offer both to my customers and my friends. I have some of the best parts that I know of on my server, but believe me when I tell you that I don't have millions of credits to spend, and that I too can't spend all day online. It's because I know what makes a good part when I see it, and I watch the market when I can, and keep all my loot and inspect it before selling to the chassis dealer. Nothing more complicated than that.

And as far as balance goes I don't believe you know the meaning of it. Every ship is different, and every ship has a weakness. Components too. I use alot of Re'd engines because I like to be fast and manueverable, at the expense that I rarely use armor, or heavy shields, and if you come at me with a missle I'm probably dead......but if you miss then I'll pwn you...probably. When I do lose in pvp I know exactly what I could have done differently to my ship to win. But at the same time if I changed my chassis or compoents too much then there would be someone else who could possibly win. That's balance, there is no "I win" button in space. Some components are better than others, but like I said before with engines both crafted and RE'd have thier own pros and cons. If you don't like it then stay on the ground where you belong. I hate to sound harse like that but I know how to build good crafted engines for my ship, do you?

Sure, I can build good engines; I even use them in most of my own ships, and pass some out to guildies. It's the choice to build a PYR subcomponent that I want to see; no more, no less.
