Man I need to rmemeber people can't read my mind.
By bouncing I mean, I feel like I'm throwing my crosshairs across the room and then I just violently turn. Should I turn my sensitivity down?

I just like the precision granted by the mouse - no joystick gives me up to 2000dpi.

True.

I used a joystick for my first week in this game and would too in any other but....I don't knwo what it is but for this game only, I prefer the mouse by far and feel completely alien with a joystick. I wouldn't say mouse > joystick though because this really is somthing which falls down to amatter of oppinion.

Flying as a gunner, I actually ended up using both mouse and joystick ... I'm just too used to the various buttons I've programmed.

i have trouble getting used to twisting the stick to roll, its just unnatural to my hand. i wish i could config it like X-Wing and have it be when i hold down a top button and push it to the side it would roll.

Ineed it is un natural to twist to roll... I use the twist for my Yaw control.. works GREAT, and the Joystick the rest of it is set the way a real joystick is supposed to work.

About the Mouse vs Stick... I have to say I LOVE MY STICK!! I was 4443 Reb pilot when I got my stick, so I am pretty proficeint with my mouse and keyboard.. i like them both, but after getting used to the control of the stick I feel I have surpased my skills with the mouse out of sheer control ability and emence amounts of programed buttons my stick has.

Yes, sensitivity is a factor. Also, the size of the control "box" and how fast yourpointer moves and how far.

Took me about a week to adjust things to the way I like 'em.

Although, to be honest, the first time I tried flying in this game (I don't read manuals as a rule), Iended uplooking in the back of my ship as I was getting pounded by an RSF T1.

SO, I read the manual.

Choice of controller is as personal as your choice of ships and fighting style. I love a joystick. I am using the X-52 right now and love it. There was a period of adjustment with it but the control it gives me is great. I can make really fine adjustments with both the throttle and stick in mid fight.

I like the immersion of being in first person and using the joystick. The functionality seems to work well for me. When I'm in a turret, I use a mouse though. I can't hit a thing if I use a joystick in a turret.

Every now and then, I fly in 3rd person just for a bit of variety. There seems to be some advantages to this as you've got a bit more vision in close fights. The joystick doesn't work as well for me in 3rd person for some reason. I think if I were to totally switch to 3rd person, I would have to start using a mouse. For now, I'm "sticking" (pardon the pun) to the joystick and 1st person.

IMHO, being able to adjust speed, level and rotation fast is more important than extra dpi on a mouse... Although I admit you do get beter precision with mouse being able to perform more complex maneuvers is more important to me. As someone said it's very personal... I guess you have to try it yourself (recommend to try it for at least 3 days to get used to it before rejecting something you dont feel usual).

im only mouse/KB because of planetside, nowdays it has joystick support but when it came out even flight was KB/Mouse. you still catch me in SWG trying to use my "Climb" and "Descend" keys.

in PS all fighters/bombers/transports where basicly some form of scifi VTOL in which not only could you climb in the traditional airplane sense of pulling up but through the use of the climb and desecend keys you could move up and down without tilting the nose. basicly Helicopter meets Jet Fighter. i wish my Xwing could do some of the things my reaver did lol.
