Thread: so now that we are getting another crappy ship

What I mean is, if SOE had conducted a poll of pilots, and asked "Which ship would you prefer out of this list: Eta-2 Actis Interceptor, Belbullab-22, or the YT-2400?", the YT would've won it hands-down. Most people wouldn't have even known what the Belbullab-22 is.![]()
I'm pretty sure SOE gave those first two ships to SWG because they were associated with Ep3, not because people were asking for it. The YT-2400 is really the first ship that was given due to popular demand.
Not saying the Lambda Shuttle was not a popular choice, but in this timeframe it was primarily an imp ship and they needed something that could be made available to everyone...since apparently they could only squeeze one ship in this expansion. /shrug
Introducing antiques is easier than introducing items from the future.
The only issues from the future we have, really, are with the B-Wing... Oppresor... A-Wing and TIE Interceptor right? They are a tad early, but not rrrreally that early (they came around between ESB and ROTJ right?)

B-wing and TIE Interceptor you might get mixed results; some would say they were at least in the testing phase, if not in full service(don't know the sources for this). The Oppressor was invented by SOE, so that can be from any time.
A-wing they say was involved in the evacuation of Yavin IV. Don't ask me where they get that, if it was developed AFTER the Battle of Yavin(bit of a time crunch there, I think).
That pretty well sums it up. The TIE Interceptor's development date is sketchy, as we never saw it until RotJ. The B-wing is well established as under development before the Alliance established on Hoth by the Verpines and Ackbar in the Roche asteroid belt. Strictly speaking timeline-wise, it probably shouldn't be in the game.
The A-wing was co-developed by Jan Dodonna and Walex Blissex (same man who did the Aethersprite and the Actis). Dodonna was captured by the Empire after the Yavin evacuation was complete, so the A-wing had to at least be in testing stages at this point.
The TIE Oppressor/Aggressor are different enough from the standard TIE models to suggest they came from an advanced TIE research project. The only project we know of would be Admiral Zaarin's thinktank, which also produced the production model of the TIE Advanced and the infamous TIE Defender. Assuming the Oppressor and the Aggressor came from the same research efforts, they would be out of timeline, too, since Zaarin wasn't producing anything until post-Hoth.
Now if they would only fix the bug that stops you from having 3 fully decorated/functioning POB's in your datapad at the sametime......
(If you have a Y8, Decimator, and Yacht in your datapad at the sametime it will not let you launch any of them into space until you remove one of them.)
intresting, i was not aware that this bug existed. I have had 3 fully decorated and functioning POB's for a while now. my Yacht, YT-1300, and a Y-8. I have always been able to fly any of them at anytime. I am a freelance pilot, just wondering if that has anything to do with it?

Nowhere on that page does it say A-wings weren't around during this time. 'Now' is technically just before Hoth or even during it (since we're two years after the Battle of Yavin if we're using linear real time as the game was released two years ago and then it was set just after Yavin.) It actually does say that the A-wing was the result of observations made on the Battle of Yavin and judging from the advanced technology of the SW Universe and casual uses of poetic justice, the A-wing could very well have existed 'now'
Bracketing the craft is a pair of linked laser cannons that can elevate and depress 60 degrees***. Some models even carry weapons that can rotate completely around to fire at pursuing targets****. The A-wing also carries a powerful sensor jammer that wreaks havoc on the detection systems of small fighters******. Against larger vessels the jammer is useless. In fact, it is a greater risk, as the jammer's powerful frequencies show up on a capital ship's sensor grid as a large and tempting beacon.*******

Damn! I knew after my cloning session I should have checked your ship for my corpse

The Alliance brain trust of General Jan Dodonna and engineer Walex Blissex developed the A-wing starfighter after examining the role of speed in the Battle of Yavin and the sleek fighters developed by the Tamuuz-an. The top-secret result of their experimentation was the A-wing, the fastest vessel of the Galactic Civil War.*
Twin Novaldex J-77 Event Horizon engines push the tiny craft through realspace, giving it phenomonal sublight speed and performance. Though its Microaxial LpL computer worked hard to make the powerful vessel controllable, only the best pilots can take full advantage of the A-wing's velocity and weapons systems. **

...Anyone else want to laugh themselves silly when they see this reference?
Actually, can we make this a reality?
