Thread: The X-Wing is a bit too 'jack of all trades' to be good, so heres my idea for ar evamp.

Yeah, I think he just wants this to be Mecha Star Wars. robots in disguise...more than meets the eyes...
Well hell! Its a Manga-Star Wars World on the ground aint it? We might as well go ahead and push it for manga/mecha/cheese Star Wars all the way into space also, right?
/sarcasm end...

I find the third gun on the X-wing idiotic. Not just as an Imperial, but as a pilot in JtL and X-wing series. And as a Star Wars fan. If they are going to add a third gun on the centerline, they ought to take out the ordinance slot. My opinion, not a suggestion for a change. I would like that third gun gone, though.

As a light fighter, the A-wing beats out the X-wing. As a heavy fighter, bomber, or anything else, the B-Wing and both Y-wings again, win.
First, make all X-wings universally around 110k-120k.
But, give them the ability to transform. Quite literally, in the manage button on space terminals, the ability to shift from....
Good greif, the above quote is about as far as im going to read into that.
FIrst, this is NOT the Transformers Online.
Second, the Xwing, as it is now, is from my experience, the best all purpose ship AS IS NOW. I've already mastered rebel, and im close to mastering privateer, and as so far, putting the matter of convergance aside (which can be circumvented with proper weapon configuration), the Xwing is really hard to beat.
The ONLY change i can see to the X wing is increasing the mass to 110K.... TOPS. And even then, this suggestion is out of convienance.. not out of neccessity. I've flown and used every ship the alliance has in JTL, and if one was to buy one ship, and one ship only out of the alliance fleet, the Xwing fits the bill for all occasions. It's the most well balanced, all round fighter you can possibly own i think. The customization options on this thing is nothing to sneeze at either.
With my re-outfitted X-Wing I was able to finish the mission the first time; without running to the space station mid-mission for emergency repairs. It took a little longer to knock out the other ships, but my ship was up to the beating it took while I concentrated on my target.

GM: Oh. Right in the kineekies.
My X-Wing is decked out with Three guns and I simply have no room for Ordinance or Chaff Launcher. Even if I had the room, I wouldn't have the Reactor to power those units. It's a balance to outfit any of the Starships, even the higher Mass Starships, like the Y-Wings and Longprobes.
Right now, my X-Wing is a strong fighter for head to head and slower speed dogfighting with Tier 4 TIE Fighters. If I can come up with a much faster engine, I may end up dropping my third blaster and Booster and fit in more powerful guns alongside a chaff launcher and or Ordinance launcher.
Just because you have the spot for the equipment doesn't mean that you have space or energy to power that equipment and it certainly doens't mean that you must install that equipment.

In the real world the F-18 is a multi role aircraft. Not as good at bombing as the Intruder, not as good a fighter as the Tomcat, and not as good a tanker as the Viking. Yet the Navy is getting rid of (has gotten rid of) all those aircraft for the multirole. Just the way that militarys and manufactures try to save cost.
That's because it's alot cheaper to maintain5.000 F-18's then 1.000 of each. Not to mention the fact that it's easier to design and research one type of plane instead of five. And that doesn't even include the pilot-training. That argument doesn't hold here : we only have a few ships each to maintain, not 5.000.
Anyway : IMHO the X-wing should have 10k mass morebe tier 4 and the A-wing 3.

I have a pretty good shield (lvl 7) engine (lvl 7) and THREE advanced blasters. My engine isn't so fast, but the new AI never run off anymore. (But I have EO3 in my back pack.)
They all work! It's amazing shooting up tier4's. They drop like flies. (if I get on their tail) Wanna know how? Ask your closest astromech or flight computer.

Swaping the Tiers of the X/A wings would screw with the way the games set up.. ya might as well swap the Tie advanced out with the Intercepter then.
Sofar as i can tell All the ships Tiers are set up in the order that the ships actualy apeared in (atleast for the Reb and Imp's) the Star Wars Universe. The Reb's were useing modified Z-95 headhunters, then Modified Y-wings, they the heavily modified(modifyable) X-wing, which was a varient of the z-95, then the A-wing, then Akkabar's baby the B-wing.
the Imps had the cheep-to-produce-easy-to-fly Tie Fighter that they stuffed Clones into by the dozen, the tie-bobmer was their "heavy attack" craft. The Tie-intercepters actualy came out befor the x-wings.. as the x-wings were designed to basicaly stand "toe-toe" with a intercepter (thats why the shields on them were so heavy, and the added launchers, they couldnt keep up with the intercepters but they could outlast them) Then finaly they came out with the a-wings to "chase down" the intercepters. The B-Wings were basicaly designed by Akkabar s a heavy assault craft to replace the outdated y-wings. Not realy sure why the tie-Defenders/advanced were created.. never realy read mutch about them in the SW univerce books.
