As a light fighter, the A-wing beats out the X-wing. As a heavy fighter, bomber, or anything else, the B-Wing and both Y-wings again, win.
First, make all X-wings universally around 110k-120k.
But, give them the ability to transform. Quite literally, in the manage button on space terminals, the ability to shift from medium blaster fighter to medium bombing fighter. This would mean that, in blaster fighter mode it would have the 3 weapon hardpoints, no ordnance (and no countermeasures), and two slots for capacitators. In bomber mode, it would only have the two wing hardpoints, making the 3rd blaster hardpoint another ordnance slot, countermeasures and no booster. The fighter would have around 110k mass, the bomber around 120-130k. Of course, you would have to place some caps (the blaster mode having only level 7 blasters, or something) so it isn't horribly unbalanced.
Feel free to add to this idea, or flame me or one star me, or 5 star me.

Like the idea but is it ever going to exist, No. Sry to spoil your plan but the X-wing is a multi-roll craft. I have 3 weapons, 2 adv 1hvy, 1 mark IV Ordinenece and some kind of countermeasure. It works fine for both and is my main ship even at master. Sure if i want to go take out a corvette it would be nice to have 2 ordinences but i like the x-wing how it is. Just to much work for the Devs for to little of a gain.

Pointless suggestion, since this is exactly what the Xwing is supposed to be. Come up with a realistic argument that the Xwing isn't supposed to be a jack of all trades, then the idea might have merit.

I find the third gun on the X-wing idiotic. Not just as an Imperial, but as a pilot in JtL and X-wing series. And as a Star Wars fan. If they are going to add a third gun on the centerline, they ought to take out the ordinance slot. My opinion, not a suggestion for a change. I would like that third gun gone, though.

Jack of all trades it is. But the Xwing has been described as the greatest snubfighter design in history.

You can already transform it, just land on the planet, pull out your blasters and put in your ordinance launcher. I think they need to fix convergence before doing anything to the Xwing.

Maybe you could have a squad of people who drive different vehicles on the ground, and the vehicles each become a lion of some kind and join up to become a spaceship!

I think the Interceptors convergence needs worked on too if i remember the discussion from imps.
It annoys me to now end to try to manipulate a hit with just 1 side of a ships guns, i found with the Xwing while turning with the enemy ships if you kinda rotate 45deg on your axis while turning it kinda narrows up the spread a bit. But its still annoying.

As a Rebel Pilot, I agree, that third cannon hardpoint is stupid. Maybe they should make it so that its either a thirdcannon or missile tube, so youhave tochoose between them.

In the real world the F-18 is a multi role aircraft. Not as good at bombing as the Intruder, not as good a fighter as the Tomcat, and not as good a tanker as the Viking. Yet the Navy is getting rid of (has gotten rid of) all those aircraft for the multirole. Just the way that militarys and manufactures try to save cost.
