Yes, they are compareable, but keep in mind, Freelancer has some of the ugliest ships in the game.

This is partiallyanother instance in which the devs wanted to hook the Han Solo clones out there, and partially because that's how a YT-1300 is supposed to look.

Which squadron runs "Rebel" missions (i.e. I attack the Star Ravager for my Master mission)? What is the starting point?

CorSec is the completely Neutral squadron, RSF is the Imperial alligned Squadron, and the "Smuggler's" Alliance is the closest to being Rebel alligned, since, as was mentioned before, you must take out the Imperial Corvette

Are there any particular issues with certain squadrons (i.e. insanely hard missions of trainers who are broken)?

I think I heard some people say that the Devs accidentily broke the "Smuggler's" Alliance Tier 4, but am unsure, since my alt is in CorSec, and not the shoddy insult to Smugglers.

Am I correct that I can attack either faction and declare Reb or Imp depending on my whim at the time? Am i correct that neither faction will aggro me if I'm neutral?

As an RSF Pilot, you can attack anything that isn't Imperial or RSF. As a CorSec Pilot, you can attack anything that isn't CorSec. As a "Smuggler's" Alliance Pilot, I think you can attack either anything that isn't Hutt, or anything that isn't "pirate".

If you've done both Reb and Freelancer, which did you enjoy mostand why?

I enjoy Rebel(Naboo track) more currently, but that may change as I level through Freelancer. Why? I just did.

Finally, I assume I won't be able to wear my "X-Wing Helmet" when I drop Allaince Ace, right?

If you take it off, you will not be able to re-equip it.

In my oppinion, the YT-1300 is an ugly(read: extremely ugly) ship, and shouldn't be restricted to just restricted to just Freelancer, but should be like the FireSpray, available to all Masters. Due to its age and how long its been out on the market in continuity.

As a "smugglers" Alliance pilot, I can attack : Rebels, Imps, Hutts, Valarians, Pirates, Chimps, Dogs, Cats, Wilderbeasts, Apes, Zebras,...AND RABBITS.

The YT is a good ship, not much space to decorate, but thats how I like it - it's a freighter not the S.S. Princess. As for letting everyone fly one,...no. That would be like the U.S. Navy adopting 1930's fishing trawlers as coastal patrol boats. Since the Imps have Decimator, and freelancers have the YT,..the Reb's get the Nova which is a modified freighter having 1 more ordiance slot than a YT.
