DS PVP, now officaly have no death penatly next patch.

The fact that they're getting rid of almost every unique system this game started out with tells me that there is some monetary desperation going on with SOE/Lucas Arts. My bet is that they're losing money or extremely close to reaching that point as they try to bring the game into line with every other level based MMORPG out there.

Completely missing the point that the people who stick with this game are the people who DON'T want something like every other level-based MMORPG out there...

This is my first MMO, so the bugs seem sora..."normal," however annoying. So should I just switch to, say, EQ, instead of waiting for SWG to become EQ with guns?

Back to the topic (away from the prestige debate)..

I think it's pretty sad that wounds from space are leaving. The simple solution would have been to increase Doctors wound healing rates, and give them XP for healing wounds. (I don't understand why wound healing had to be tied to combat. Healing wounds can't be "exploited" like tumbling pre-cu)

On the other hand, post-cu, it was nearly impossible to get a doctor to heal your wounds. It was always some jedi that healed you while you stood at the terminal.

Instead of improving doctor/player interaction and keeping a unique system that this game used to have, they just took the simple route and removed wounds altogether. As someone else said, why not just removed wounds altogether?

Also, can anyone explain the purpose of grouping with droids in space? I can't figure out what that means, from the info in the patch notes.

I actually took novice doctor on my character, who is a MBH, MCarb so that I could heal my wounds, which are primarily from space. This was because there seems to be no doctors out there able to heal wounds when you need it. I'm not sure I like this change though. While I don't support permanent penalties for space death (no decay from PVP thanks), I do support temporary ones that should make you think twice about ramming your head into the same wall in space with no thought for the consequences.

While normally I would agree in removing a unique system is bad...it's Battle Fatigue. It's not anything special. They removed it because they're trying to make Entertainers a more roleplay based profession, something you want to go see rather then have to. Battle Fatigue was already pretty useless, it only matter at really high levels, and even then only when you were being healed/buffed.

I thought they were supposed to be fixing the POB ship components and related stuff.

I searched the forum and couldn't find any info.. but I'm wondering if this might have to do with using combat droids to group on Avatar Station?

At least, that's the only reason I could come up with.. The patch notes were vague, but I can't see how or for what reason you would group with a droid while in your fighter, or even a POB ship.

They're working on fixing the problems with some POB components, but it's looking like it's going to be at least another publish or two on that, I'd guess. Don't lynch me if that guess turns out to be wrong--they haven't given us any ETAs--but it just sounds like "we're making progress, but we don't have it figured out yet." (Not a direct quote, just a translation from the oft-nebulous language of dev-speak. ) Considering that's more info than we get on the progress of most bugs, it makes me think a fix isn't too terribly far off.

IIscandar's been bringing it up regularly, too, so they've known about it for a while.
