throw the thing down to 65k mass and have it over with.

I wouldn't be upset if they gave you the TIE Defender and it could fly like that. But ETA-2? uh-uh.

You may not, but all the other rebel pilots would. I'm not singling any one person/faction out here. We all need to take a friggin chill pill. Whining will only get everyone hit by a nerf-bat. And realistically, that's happened way too much as it is. Here are some options to get over the problem:

1. Go Imperial.

2. Get a Greevous and pretend.

3. Stick with an A-wing. I mastered rebel pilot before dropping for imperial pilot, because after having a taste of maneuverability, despite low mass, I LOVED it.

Seriously, how much Space PvP goes on on everyone's server? On Chilastra it's non-existent! So if you'd rather the Imperial pilots not get Vader's fighter, and us get the TIE Defender, then I am not going to disagree. I'd love a TIE Defender. But seriously, when I hit master Storm Squadron pilot, I will be getting a heavy duty TIE/lN because I love the basic TIE look.

This has everything to do with Imps having a quest... a space quest.. that give something with "Jedi" in the title.

Do you seriously beleive that?

Tomo Rainer wrote:

I would imagine that some of the attention the Eta-2 is getting is due to the facts it's an Imperial ship and it used to have the word "Jedi" in the name (which is probably part of why the name was changed to its more proper one)

Yes, I believe it. So does your correspondent. So do the devs who had to change the actual name of the deed because of all the crying nerf-babies out there. Get over it already.

Obviously alot further. Read the first page of this very thread, the other ships are brought up that soon.

I guess you're one of those people who'll judge everything at a first glance, completely judge the content of a book after seeing the title and the cover, huh?

By the way.. I can't test this for a while (and should probably know anyway, heh), but how exactly does the speed modifier affect turn speed? The same as with normal speed, i.e., a chassis with a .95 speed mod turns at .95 * the engine's PYR stats?

I hadn't really thought about this before, but if that's the case, the .95 mod on the JSF makes it somewhat less uber--an RE'd level 8 engine in one of these things is going to be roughly equivalent to a level 6 in an A-Wing.

Tested it... the speed modifier does not affect PYR max speed. I switched my engine from Tie Advanced to the JSF and PYR max were just the same...

I think the mass needs to go down. It IS a smaller craft, afterall.

"Nerfing", which by definition is to make less effective is a form of balacing. I'm going to hazard a guess and say hes got this blind abject hatred for any balancing adjustment at all, whatsoever. . Which i find kind of.. i dunno, hipocritical maybe if hes a stuanch supporter of the CU as his wording would leave me to beleive.

To that end ill just requote myself:

Ducimus wrote:
They are just not in sync with the rest of the game. Fairly high mass with extremly high YPR. No trade offs at all. The balance wasnt perfect before ROTW, but it is far better than it is now with the introduction of these new ships. I do not understand why the majority of the game should be bolsterd just to offset these latest additions. Its more logical to tone down these three addtions rather then screw with the entire game.

Yea, some people just don't like the word "nerf" and will do anything to avoid it. Even if its to take action that is counter intuitive to the game just to justfy their new toys existance.

The fact remains, this is an MMO game, and MMO is never a finished product. Content comes in and goes out all the time, its the nature of the beast. Sometimes, for one reason or another, mistakes are made by the developers. It happends in just about every game. In every MMO, a nerf has occured at one point or another, its inevitable. No, its not desired, but sometimes its the only clear choice.

For instance, what if SoE were to accidently introduce some Super Rifle of Doom that can kill the toughest monsters in a few hits. What would you suggest then? Buff every other rifle just so you can keep your Super Rifle of Doom? Raise the bar on the entire portion of the game to justfiy the existance of the 1 or 2 types of rifles? The idea is prepostious, and it stands to have a domino effect. Raising the bar on everything else makes all the existing content weaker, and mroe trivial to the players as their power has increased. Now you have to go back and rebalance monsters because they've become too easy. Its like a sweater with a lose thread, pull one end, and it starts to unravel.

Any bets our troll would be as resistant to a nerf in my example as he is with the new fighters? This is why we had a CU on the ground. If he has his way, we'll get one in space too. At that point, we all might as well start playing Everquest.

Even if the fighter was nerfed to 50k mass there would still be complaining. I'm starting to see alot of 'newbie' Imperial aces (lol helped like 12 of them) flying in Deepspace, but they are there for pve. Most of them fly /anon meaning they arehoping to stay out of sight.
