Thread: EPulse 3: Cheap Tactic or Tool of the Trade?
But, if you use EP3, what i described is the kind treatment you can expect, at the very least you wouldnt have much respect. Can i saftely assume then you use EP3 because you can't hack it in a real fight?
We are talking hipotheticals here. For the most part i am easy going, relaxed, and treat others civily. But if you go around spaming an I win button like that, I would probably take it personnaly, and i would make it very much personal in the worst possible way.
As for talking behind someones back, phhht, EVERYONE (and i do mean EVERYONE, cause ive heard it all) talked behind that persons back. No one wanted to hurt his feelings, and had i thought he cruised these forums, i woudlnt have said anything.

While this isn't something I would normally condone.. I can understand where Ducimus is coming from. What "fun" is it to use EP3? Ash.. I coudln't figure out who you were. I knew you were on bloodfin since you knew who Ayanami was. But you're attitude about EP3 isn't something that is going to get more people into space. And that's what I want. I want as many people up there.
My views on EP3, since I haven't chimed in yet, is that it is a cheap and low move. Just like Load Camping. Know one likes Load Camping. Yet it can be a "tactic". EP3 can be a "tactic" also.But when someone Load ganks someone else, especially me, I'll about burst a bubble jumping down the guys throat about "fair" game play, etc. Using Epulse is the EXACT same thing. It is a tactic, but it is on par with load ganking in my book. Just because you have it does not mean you should use it. If you're getting load ganked however, then use it all you want. That is a justifyable use for Epulse. But not in a 1v1 fight, or in a event where the object is to have "fun."
Also using Epulse is NOT like using Last Ditch on the ground. Last Ditch on the ground is subject to exact timing to fire it off, problems with accuracy, prone to incap the smuggler who uses it, and is negated by armor, PSG's, food, and mitigation. Last Ditch can also be avoided by using LOS, knocking the smuggler down before he shoots it off, etc. Epulse has no counter. Hence the problem people have with it. It cannot be avoided by with the exception of staying out of range. Yet how many dog fights do you see that happen where the opponents fight each other outside of 300m in a twisting fight? None. And I don't believe who ever it was that said aces on their server routinely kill people outside of 300m. There must be some very bad pilots on that server or they are using missles. But with lasers almost all the kills are going to be scored inside of 300m. So using Epulse might as well be renamed to "I win." No skill, no fun, no tactics, no whatever.
And like Duc should anyone Epulse me I will be back to cause problems to that person. Missles what ever.. but don't expect to be doing what you were doing for very long after you Epulse me.

Oh, don't mistake me. I would use EP3 in a heartbeat if a person ignored a pm from me saying I didn't want PvP and continued attacking me or if they had group attacked/loadcamped me. Fact is I use blasters, missiles, EP3, jousting, whatever the game allows. But, no, I don't run around spamming EP3 every time. Fact is, I rarely get to DS with the time I have and things I want to get done when I am on. The only real time I do have to go to DS is when Bloodfin's weekly space event is had, so I leave em to it.

Honestly, everyone's opinion differs on what is "real." If you mean by how many PvP space fights, sans EP3, have I won? Not counting being camped,23 and 7. Not using missiles, 7 and 2. In my lumbering krayt, 3-0 and the oppressor 4 and 2. All total sans EP3 including being camped23 and 10. And, since you will probably think it, those 3 camp losses were from folks I had not used EP3 on, till that point at least. And yes, I do keep a running tally simply because I do not engage in PvP if it can be helped.

As an aside -- How do you people manage to keep your win/loss numbers?
I have a hard time remembering how many times I've shot people down/been shot down by someone.
I've had some really memorable fights, of course, and could tell you the names of some of the more fun pilots I've fought against, but keeping track of exact numbers seems to be a skill that I can't quite pick up.
i just count myself...but then i don't PvP as much these days as i used too. there are some folks that i can't believe they actually kept track of all their PvP wins and losses (they're in the hundreds and thousands).
i'm happy i'm an above .500 PvPer on both ground and space, but both counts are well below 50.

Ashtirael/Emmexx. Normally Emmexx cause T5 Imps drop rendili advanced and typically less mass loot. But Ashtirael when I need higher stat numbers in a couple areas. Hope that helps that part

I can empathize with your desire to want more people in space, but they better be aware this exists when they get up there or there will be a surprise. Oh, and loadcamping has occurred, at minimum, 3 times in the past 2 weeks, probably more. New aces venturing to DS for the first time got ganked, some repeatedly. That will keep them out of DS worse than someone hitting EP3 once they are in there and flying. Another reason I have been staying away and just hitting Kessel and the droids.

Again, I prefer to be left alone. I stand by, or fall depending on the outcome,my means of staying alone in space.

And, as I have stated before, in your weekly Bloodfin PvP tourny threads, and in several other threads, including this one, you set rules for that fun event, and that is cool. And again I point out, I have a different agenda. Space looting is my passion in this game, not PvP. I left that in Jumpgate. I loot in DS at times. Leave me alone, no muss no fuss. Just like that time you sat at a station afk and I /t you and told you then all I wanted was to be left alone (which you did tyvm)We both went our ways. And, yes, I do run (Vaksai) at times if I have the opportunity.

Oh, I have high expectations. Always will. Just as I am glad you, predator, aya, nearro and whoever else does. And I fully expect others to come at me helter skelter. Low, cheap, exploit, design, whatever, until it gets changed like it need to be, it is fully intended to be used and I will use it when my goal requires it. Of course, I expect retaliation.
The first time I went to DS, with a bud, he talked about keeping track, just for myself. So I did. Since I don't go there but on occasion, and am never overt in normal space, PvP is rare and easily countable. A loss sends me back to the station where I chalk up the totals in an excel sheet on a cheap old laptop I have. Although the names escape me

Well.. I can't keep count anymore.. Besides.. it's all a relative term now. I'm all about having fun out there at all costs.. if that includes being sent back to the station.. well they'll fill the station with my body bags. lol
When JTL first came out for hte first 5-6 months I kept track. But PvP fights weren't the common place back then. I can remember going over a week with out finding anyone. Then if I got into a fight I'd be yelling on Vent to my guildies hey get up here, an overt! lol was good times.. but when I was keeping track i'd just write their name down, if they were already on the list i'd put x 2... wins and losses.. before I lost count and the events started happening I was like 125-55 or something like that.. I mean.. I think I could safely say i've been in over 500 space fights now. as for the record? the hell if I know.. i could careless at this point because 99.9% of the regular ppl in space are cool and very respectable and the fights are all about the fun.. going for that adrenaline rush.. going i'm almost there, what? how'd he get me? or holy crap, i can't believe I just pulled that move to get him. those are what I remember the most, instead of who I got and who got me.
Ah, but we all know that adaptation was possible, even against them.
